I saw the following article today. When will people learn that more regulation is rarely the answer. If you try to regulate to the point that almost no can really fail... then you have also designed a system in which almost no one can succeed either. If the govt is truly going to get involved and begin to oversee what the banks are doing, and try to control their business, then I think you will start to see banks begin to leave the federal FDIC system all together. Banks may start to offer their own form of insurance and "opt out" of the FDIC system. Just a thought.... we will see what happens...
