Greatest love songs ever

I keep forgetting about this thread. Greatest love song? Has to be Freddy Fender's.

YouTube - Texas Tornados, Who Were You Thinking Of?, Gruene Hall, 1992
I nominate this as true love at its finest #1st place finisher. :)

"Think whatever you want honey, ifn it works for you, I guarantee it'll work for me..."

Man, this thread can be addictive. I get on that there Youtube and The Texas Tornados are all the way. I love their sad ballads too - much like the slower Norteño music.

I think we also need a new thread- "Love Songs for Realists"

I nominate from my collection YouTube - Save the last dance for me - The Drifters

I like ol' Patsy too, but not quite ironic enough to make my list.

YouTube - Texas Tornados - She Never Spoke Spanish to Me

SHE NEVER SPOKE SPANISH TO ME
Texas Tornados

I met her in old Mexico
She would live in sad and young
This smokey room where no one could see

Her favorite poets all agree
Spanish is a lovin' tongue
But she never spoke Spanish to me

She was born in Monterey
And all the Christmas songs were sung
Padres knew what she would grow up to be

Saints and sinners all agree
Spanish is a lovin' tongue
But she never spoke Spanish to me

Like a lion screamin' in the jungle low
She'd never fool with things she couldn't see
She spoke to all the shadows in her bungalow
But she never spoke Spanish to me

She said if you're from Texas, so
Where's your boots and where's your gun
Well, I got guns that no one can see

Well, after that we both agreed
Spanish is a lovin' tongue
But she never spoke Spanish to me
Well, she never spoke Spanish to me

Maybe not the best but certainly deserves honorable mention.

I don't know if this one has been posted yet on this 14 page thread, but if it has been, it bears repeating.

This is the love song of all love songs for many of us women. I don't suppose it does much for the guys.

The song does it for the woman, the woman does it for the man. Everybody wins! :)

I have several LW CDs in my collection. Here is my favorite from "Sweet Old World":
73, I love this one too. I've seen her a couple times in concert, she is fun. What like most about her is whether she wrote the song, or it is someone else's, she sings like it's being squeezed out of the pain in her heart.

These are possbily the most romantic two lines in song-

"Well I can't stay round, cause I'm going back South
But all I regret now is I never kissed your mouth"

Dee Dee Kennibrew is the only original Crystal who continues and uses the original name. If only she could hook up with La La and Darlene Love again.

Darlene Love was the lead singer of the Blossoms. Phil Spector used her with the Crystals also. When she asked for a contract Phil replaced her with La La Brooks. This first happened with the song Da Doo Ron Ron.
