I saw a pretty good Western Digital Drive that was 60 GB for around $100.

Anyone aware of a very small USB external hard drive. No power cords please, just a USB. Anything above 20 Giga Bytes would be plenty.

If you have an old drive laying around (I use laptop drives), you can buy an external enclosure for it (less than $20), and you're all set.

60GB WD usb powered drive for $68.

While I havent heard of any specific problems, i have an initial strongly negative visceral reaction to powering even a 2.5" hard drive from a USB port. My bet is anything substandard will leave you with a funny 'something electronic is on fire' smell at some point... :p

Diskgo has some 12GB 1" usb powered drives for about $130. Fit in the palm of your hand and very low power. I think seagate has some in the 6-8GB range for $80-100.

Happy New Years!

Is El Guapo a Mexican feast for New Years?

I saw these WD Passport Drives. I tried one on my lappie and it worked very well. I am thinking of getting a couple and doing all backups on these. Storing one off site etc.

C-T, I think you hit it. It's that avacado dip - 'Guapomole'.
