Major Tom
Thinks s/he gets paid by the post
To get back to the OT- I don't have a Prime membership. Probably never will. My TV source is Netflix. While I see a fair amount of planned purchases here ("I knew I wanted to buy X and was waiting for Prime Day") there's also a lot of purchases based on browsing and finding something you didn't know you wanted. I try to avoid that. It keeps the spending AND the clutter down.
+1
I'm on a free trial month of Prime. The timing with which they offered it to me was perfect, as I have just purchased a class B camper van, and needed to buy a bunch of supplies for it. Unless I forget, I plan to cancel the free month before they begin charging me. It's been quite nice to have the quick delivery but, frankly, it's almost too quick. Most of the time, 2 or 3 days is good enough. Much of the time, 5 - 8 days is good too. I'm a big boy now - I can wait. Also, I have historically tried to stay from Amazon, but this trial month might mark the beginning of a change of habit in that regard.
I actually feel rather sorry for all the Amazon worker bees who are busting their chops, just so that I can have something delivered the same day, which could very well have been delivered a few days later without negatively impacting my life.
Incidentally, today is the anniversary of the day when, in 1995, Amazon opened for business as an online bookseller.
