Yep - deja vue - except this time it's different.

I'm thinking of betting it won't last 16-18 yrs this time around.

Playing some on paper games with dumping all my gold coins, timberland, real estate, foreign stocks and buying long bond (funds only) and American stocks when the dollar hits it's nadir. All that stuff(hindsight) was okay but not great like betting with De Gaul and America was in 401k(1966-1981).

Mad money only - core still is balanced index.

Still cogitating - my dirty market timing is usually way off and am usually forced to console myself with dividends.

That's all fine and well, but how will you know the USD is at its nadir? (Please tell me when it is) I think currency movements are probably even harder to forecast than interest rates, equity market levels, etc.

The answer is blindly obvious - when the Chinese start buying American Golf courses - er ah was that the Japanese.

My extremely unscientific belly button indicator will be when the DOW yield goes south of 4% - then my trigger finger starts getting itchy.

Truly - I don't expect to know - but catching falling knives is always exciting.

Me, when it gets to $ 0.95 -1.00 CDN.

I think the dollar's lowest point was in 1995. Not sure what signs at the time could have told one that it was the bottom.
