What do you drive?

2016 Mazda Miata Club, 3.5K miles.

2015 Chevy Malibu, nicely equipped. Good mileage (up to 40 mpg hwy) and quite reliable.

I've owned 14 cars in my life, which is a little embarrassing in this crowd since so many seem to keep them forever. Planning to buy #15 next year.

But I'm also unusual in that I've consistently put around 25,000 miles a year on almost all of them.

I enjoy driving, even long distance, so I get something that makes me happy.

Been driving SUVs since the 80s, and will continue that. I like sitting a bit higher so as to see the traffic ahead, and they are much easier to get in and out of as you age.

1999 F250 supercab 4x4 that I bought new in 1998 (150,000 miles). 2006 impala that was my commuter for w*rk (currently 160,000 miles bought used in 2010), 2014 wrangler unlimited that just replaced a 2000 Mercury villager that we bought in 2003 with 13,000 miles and just sold to the junkyard for $350 with 210,000 miles. Two toys--2001 Minnie class c motorhome on an E450 chassis and a 2001 Harley Roadking bought new in 2001.

I do like my vehicles 🙂

2006 Accord, 6 cyl. full load. 2007 Solara convertable,6 cyl, full load (summer only).

Had the Accord for 7 years. Expect to keep it for another 10. Last one was a 97 Camry, 6 cyl, full load. Drove it for 17/18 years, son is driving it for the past two.

In between, while working, a new Ford product each year from my employer. Taurus, Lincoln, Escape, etc. Have not been in one of their stores since nor do we plan to. World of difference in terms of product quality and service.

2011 Tahoe LT 4x4.
2014 Mustang V6 convertible. Probably sell this one soon since I just bought a 2007 Jeep Liberty 4x4 for a killer price ready to tow behind the motorhome. Really wanted a Chevy Colorado crew 4x4 but couldn't find anything local and then this Liberty popped up. Figured I can always trade it in later on a Colorado.

I have a 2005 Mustang GT, and a 2013 F150. I seem to have always had a mustang since i started driving. Wife has a Fusion. You can tell we like the Ford dealer in our area :)

I have had over 100 new cars while working for an auto manufacturer. Funny.how paying for them yourself makes you keep cars longer.

I am now very careful to buy cars/trucks that have lower than normal deprecation and those that are relatively troublefree. With service departments at $100 per hour labor and cars with very complicated electronics, I try to avoid dealer service departments like The Plague.

2007 Camry Hybrid (will prob be a 2018 Accord Hybrid next Spring)
2012 Prius

Our #1 priority when we buy cars is reliability (followed by mpg/emissions, looks, features, tech, purchase & operating costs). Right or wrong, we haven't bought a used car since 1988. We don't buy luxury marques (been there, done that) and usually keep cars for 8 years plus or minus. Highest mileage car we ever had was a Honda Prelude we traded in at 164K miles.

I drive a BMW 528, vintage 1999. It's an oldie, but a goodie.....just like me !!

It recently turned 124K miles, and I've been putting about 8K miles per year on it. I picked it up on a trade-in about 5 years ago. I had to fix a few vacuum leaks to get it running right, and I put in fresh spark plugs at 100K miles. The aluminum 6-cylinder engine gives the car about 50/50 weight distribution and the rack and pinion steering is tight. I treated myself to new Koni shocks and Michelin tires on all 4 corners. I go for the handling, not the stop-light racing like some of these fooz down here.

My Total Cost of Ownership has been low. I'm in it for under $10K and with the new shocks and tires.....it rides like a new car.

Dear Wife has the family car, a 2012 Passat.

2007 Lexus ES 350 with 153K miles and 2007 Toyota Solara convertible with 110K miles. Bought both new and they are both great cars!

I drive a hard bargain.

Here's another test of my memory. I tried to remember if it was you or Rich-in-Tampa who bought a new Malibu to tow behind a motorhome. Could be both.

And I remember R-i-T talked about his new car got nice plastic (instead of burled walnut) all over the dashboard. :D

And in an old thread about cars, Janet talked about her VW Touareg with a higher towing capacity than many SUVs, so that she could tow her travel trailer.

Darn, my memory is still so superior, I scare myself.

His: 2007 Infiniti G35S six speed manual, 104K miles
Hers: 2016 BMW X1 around 24K

Will replace my car in 2019. Want a Model S, probably will get something like an Accord Hybrid to avoid buyer's remorse.

2012 BMW X5d (50,000 miles and just getting warmed up)
2001 BMW 330ci convertible (49,000 miles)
1997 Porsche 993 C4S (14,500 miles)

Primary car is a 2015 Camry XLE. I also have a 2016 Ram 1500 I use when I want to haul stuff or just drive for occasional fun (if it wasn't such a gas hog I would drive it full time). I also have a 1999 Camry XLE with 325,000 miles on it that I drive on occasion just so it doesn't sit.
