Fear o' faucet

A DIY story with a happy ending. My kitchen faucet broke loose.
No leaks but it was sliding around like Wayne Gretzke on my sink top. Called two (2) local guys (one 3 times). Nobody showed, nobody called
(no, they had not worked for me before). I almost talked myself into
fixing it even though I knew disaster would surely follow. Finally called
a guy with an ad in my hometown paper. Sounds okay, so I picked up a
faucet at Walmart ($24.00) and called him at 4 p.m. yesterday.
"When do you want to do it?" says I. "How about right now?" says he.
It was NOT routine. One water line was too short (I told him to pull
on it and it came right out of the floor in his hand) and the fittings
were not quite right. Long story short.............he finished up in one hour;
total bill $37.50. I will be calling this guy again in the future.

Wow that's great $37.50 per hour incuding traveling time, some places charge more than that once they step through the door. JG, have you turned on the water yet?

You can't get anyone to even come out to take a look here for less than $95. I guess that's one of the reasons that I've learned to DYI a lot of the minor repairs.
