Ten Favorite Movies of All Time

• My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

Thank you so much for reminding me of Miyazaki, probably my favorite maker of animated films. Spirited Away is a true classic, and Princess Mononoke and his early films like Castle in the Sky and Nausicaa aren't far behind.

Yes - I forgot about The Milagro Beanfield War. Loved that movie!

Still listen to the music.....

I believe most of my favorites have already been mentioned. Some 'off the beaten path' movies that I enjoyed:

- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
- All that Jazz
- Cat People
- Brokeback Mountain
- The Life of Pi
- The Remains of the Day

Did nobody mention Monty Python and the Holy Grail?!?!?!

What about The Rocky Horror Picture Show?!?!?

The Yellow Submarine.

Just want to second some others mentioned after I posted earlier.

Papillon
One Flew OverCuckoos Nest
Good, Bad & Ugly
Sound of Music
It’s a Wonderful Life

And another one I really liked not yet mentioned.
Marathon Man
Yes. Marathon Man. Great flick.

And there was another that slipped my mind: Midnight Express.

I did mention the Holy Grail. And not sure how I left Airplane! off my non- list. Naked Gun too.

Comedy is in my view the genre with the fewest really good movies. Doing comedy well is so difficult.

Some Like It Hot?

Planet of the Apes
Being John Malkovich

Trading Places
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Blues Brothers
Star Wars
Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

I had the soundtrack for American Graffiti on 8-track. I think we wore it out!

Yes, me too! I had an aftermarket 8 track mounted under the dash of my car. In order to get it to play properly I had to fold the cover from a pack of matches and wedge it between the side of the 8 track and the player.
Good old days.

I would argue that Sci-fi is the genre with the fewest REALLY good movies. Or maybe it's just the genre with the most BAD movies.

When DW is out for the evening I will search for sci-fi to watch and am almost always disappointed. For a genre with so many good books - so many bad movies.

In no particular order (and a few more than 10)...…

Animal House
Caddyshack
The Sting
Sleeper
The American President
Star Wars
Witness
Dog Day Afternoon
Raiders of the Lost Ark
A League of Their Own
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Back to the Future
Biloxi Blues
The Fugitive
Trading Places

Add a couple of corny sci-fi thrillers:

1 Million Years B.C.

and

Them

and

Poltergeist

Reading these lists I keep thinking, "Oh, wow, that was good too!" I tried to think of flicks I'd enjoy watching again almost anytime. In no particular order

Shawshank
Raiders
Casablanca
Forrest Gump
French Connection
Blazing Saddles
North by Northwest
Goldfinger
2001
Goodfellas

Many great movies listed.

My all time favorite, Harold and Maude. It has a Cat Stevens soundtrack.

That movie spawned my lifelong interest in prehistoric fashion

1 Million Years B.C.

There was one reason to watch 1 Million Years BC, but [-]she[/-] it was a very, very good reason.

My favorite sci-fi is Blade Runner. It comes very close to being in my top ten overall.

gosh, so many great movies. Anything I would think to put on my Top Ten would already be named here, some over and over. I would add Guess Whos Coming To Dinner, Finding Nemo, and Babe, the last two just mindless enjoyment. This great thread has given me some great ideas of movies to put on my list to watch soon.
