Anyway, back to the thread topic, perhaps Robbie is right, that we should BTD before we forget what the dough is for. :)

PS. Just booked flight for 2 to Europe. 29-day road trip. I still need to flesh out all the stops.

More to the point, right now, BTD before it becomes worthless!:(

I'm having breakfast at the Black Bear Diner tomorrow morning with a good friend of mine. Two breakfasts and tip will run 36.00.

Taking DIL to a sammich shop tomorrow - $15 for a ham and cheese. Thick, but $15? Yep.

My first wife and I got married when I was 28. Ma & Pops gave us a reception back in Michigan just after. Before that they were out to CA and met us.

We moved Pops in with us after Ma died and he lived with us until 3 years after my wife died. He had the memory loss. Just before he died he asked me if I ever got married.

Yeah, there in body but the mind is gone.

I want to live to the fullest and do what I want to do until that is just not possible anymore.

^ that we could all be so lucky. My mom and dad were both sharp at the end and that is a blessing.

To me, recently, I blew some dough on an Amazon order of Froie Gras, 10 pieces about 1.5# of something I should not eat, but made my wife a little happier. Tonight its dine out again for Fday, Italian but I plan on spending a few bucks on great wine.

I just hope my wife remembers it tomorrow......

My driveway replacement project is finally done! I accepted a quote in March 2021 but they did not get to my job last year due to lots of business and lots of rain. Here in NW Pennsylvania, they can only do asphalt until about the end of October due to falling temperatures.

It took them 2 full days (Monday & Tuesday) to pull out the thick concrete slabs of the old driveway. One of the reasons for last year’s delays was their excavating company subcontractor kept putting my job off. This year, facing the same, the pavers decided to do the concrete removal themselves. It took half a day to get the right equipment for the job. The concrete was about 12” thick and steel reinforced. They had to try 3 different jackhammers before they found one that worked well enough — and even it was slow going.

On Wednesday they brought in a truck load of dirt/gravel and spread and compacted it. On Thursday, the put down about 6” of coarse base asphalt. On Friday, the put down about 3-4” inches of smaller grained finishing asphalt. The driveway slopes and I had a drain on the bottom that needed to be better incorporated than it was with the concrete. They nicely smoothed out previous issues in the slope and built a bit of a bowl around the drain that I think will help a great deal. I also had them add a raised lip on the lower end of the drive to further persuade the water toward the drain.

I also had them remove a loose gravel turnaround area that was part of the previous driveway. I will return this to yard in the coming months. The drive also had a 4’ section of loose gravel at the road (from a ditch culvert placement, I assume) that is now nicely paved. It will be so nice this winter when I’m snow blowing the drive since there won’t be stones flying into my yard with the snow.

I’m very happy with the results.

The quote last year was roughly $7500. At the end of last summer, he told me he would honor that price this year even though his material costs had risen 20%. This year, he still honored the price. He told me that his costs had now risen 60% over the pre-inflation rates. His quote even had a 3% escalation clause in it to cover material cost increases, but he wasn’t going to add it in since he had made me wait so long. However, I feel he went above and beyond the specs of the quote. The asphalt layers were both thicker than they were spec’d out at. When I wrote the check to pay them, I added the 3% in and then added another $250 to make it an even $8000 payment. I think it was worth every penny.

Looks like the pictures loaded sideways. Sorry about that.

very nice, Pirate. that will be a pleasure to drive and maintain. Well worth every penny in snow country, IMO.

77" LG C1 OLED TV ordered, will come next week. College football is going to be even more awesome this fall.

A month or so ago my fridge bit the dust. Since I have a freezer chest in the mud room and a mini beer fridge downstairs I figured I could get a more basic smaller fridge. Instead I wound up with a Samsung "Bespoke" fridge that cost about the same as the TV. I can swap out the panels to different colors if I want, it's got 2 ice makers, a regular filtered water tap and a small pitcher for infused water that I'm actually using, mostly with cucumber.

Might as well spend it rather than lose it in the market.

That what I call a blow the dough, Costco deal for a C2 is $3500, not sure I know or could tell the difference. Was the C1 a close out?

I was considering buying the same, as it would just fit where my 65 inch plasma sits. To me it would be a real blow the dough, because our plasma display is excellent, just a little smaller.

Here's tonight's dinner, in due course.
In some ways a BTD event for two, but if you're up to date on lobster prices, this is something of a bargain...

Not close out, but they do drop the price on the C1 (2021) and keep the price higher on the C2 (2022). There are some differences but most reviews say it's hard to discern the difference in viewing quality. They did manage to drop the weight fairly significantly, but they are so bulky that I wouldn't be mounting or moving it on my own anyway. Might be a nice factor for a couple who are capable of moving things as long as they aren't too heavy.

NICE! You will love the new TV! My ol man bought an OLED, I think its 65 and the picture is incredible!

Me, I had to BTD on Fed and State Income Tax, FICA, and credit card bills to pay off a few trips. Austin, Wisconsin Dells, and some pre paid portion of our Walt Disney World trip in January. I think I spent about $16,000 on all that this month. Cash poor now lol. Austin was a blast...I know the kiddos will love the Wilderness waterpark (world's largest waterpark) as we went for Christmas but this time get to try out the outdoor parks. Florida will be fun as well! Kids first time at Disney World. $1650 for park tickets for 3 days for our family...OUCH! BTD baby!

Oof, but it'll be fun! If you are staying at a disney property or otherwise have access to their ride reservation system take full advantage of that.

Wow, Disney tickets are crazy.

I heard for extra fees, they will move you to the front of the line on popular rides.

The wife and I were in Orlando in January. We looked up Disney tickets and just laughed at the prices.

We went in '82 and I think it was $15 a head. We started when it opened for the day. Watching the fireworks that night - I was thinking: We were overcharged. Years later I stayed across from Disneyland for a conference near by. It never crossed my mind to go to the park. YMMV

It's a long story.

My mom developed a rarer form of dementia in her 40s...not early-onset, unfortunately that is the age that particular form of dementia strikes.

After noticing mystery dents on the fenders of her car I used a program at the local hospital to evaluate her driving...the program was actually designed to get people who had been physically injured back to being able to drive.

But I was able to use it to convince mom that "officially" from a medical standpoint she shouldn't be driving after an on-road, formal evaluation by an examiner in that program...a lot less resistance than just telling her I was taking the keys.
