What We're Making

Whipped up a knife box with tray for my pocket knives. Spalted hackberry lid and tray, bocote sides. dividers are removable so that I can store other stuff.

^ That grain is really beautiful. Are you selling stuff (asking based on the uniform background)

Thanks - I need to find more of both the bocote and spalted hackberry. The suburban Chicago Woodcraft had a limited run of the hackberry, but I bought the bocote in Phoenix. I don't sell anything. I dabble in photography and tried a photo backdrop.

Salted anything is a favorite. Goes well with the bocote... Nice job as usual.

I just finished a custom wine nook (cabinets & wine bottle rack) or a client. Super tight fit & extremely custom.

That's what I always do, but my machines aren't very big, so moving outside is pretty easy.

Yesterday I made a roll-up shade for the gazebo with just stuff I had leftover from other projects. Zero trips to the hardware store (this is rare). Rather than describe it, the first 50 seconds of this video give you the gist.

That is a great project and thanks for that video. I enjoy the engineering and building things like you have done. Always tweaking and adjusting till things are just right.

Did a gaggle of walnut & maple charcuterie boards today. Needed to get rid of some scraps...

What brand dust collector do you have! I've seen some at Harbor Freight and some at our local Woodcraft store. I can't make up my mind which way to go!
You know about these guys, right? https://www.oneida-air.com/ I have one of their low-end cyclones bought maybe 15 years ago. All metal, very nicely made. Just over $1K IIRC. But now I see that they have quite a range of options including some that are in the $200 range.

Harbor Freight? I consider them to be an OK place to buy shop rags. "Do not buy cheap tools." is a mantra for me. IMO Woodcraft is in a whole different league, or at least it used to me when I was doing more serious woodworking.

I agree with your mantra. I was just trying to get some feedback on systems. they're all over the board.

Niece needed a butcher block top for her camper vanity. Whipped one up out of scraps. Emergency when glue dried too fast in 102 degree heat leaving gaps between boards glued end to end. So I routered out the gaps and put in turquoise and epoxy

Nice save! I love giving my work to relatives. I made something for all my nieces and nephews. And all my brothers also. Nice job, as usual.

Been enclosing the covered patio and screening all the walls (was 1/3 screened before).

Post-covid parties have arrived.

Like always outstanding projects, Ronstar & Surewhitey!

That looks like a good sturdy stool. The ones you buy wouldn't compare. Very nice!!

Starting knife making - so far using purchased blades. I just made the handle.

Very Nice, now you can branch out to other weaponry and start making some exotic benchrest rifle stocks.

Ronstar,
So the details in the handle... Do these go through the blade or just a detail embedded in the wood? Would you mind sharing the blade dealer?
