What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

We try and have one upbeat, low stress show to watch before bedtime. Our new favorite is Travel Man. Each episode is only about 20 minutes and there's always a few laugh out loud moments.

"Richard Ayoade attempts to visit all the top tourist attractions in various cities in a 48-hour period. Each episode sees Richard traveling with a different companion to places such as Iceland, Barcelona, Istanbul and Marrakesh."

There are 10 seasons available.

"The White Lotus" continues to enthrall. Great performances from everyone. Definitely not for everyone. Also "Never Have I Ever." I don't know why I like these shows with teenage protagonists. Maybe the 35 years of teaching high school.

I only now discovered this series and find it really smart & funny. The first season was very well written and acted but it pushed buttons and boundaries. In my book that's a plus but if you like your TV "safe" then you will very likely be turned off.

Regarding Extraordinary Attorney Woo...

We started watching last night. Good show. My only complaint is there is too much loud background music in some scenes.

We can't binge it either because it takes a lot of work to deal with the subtitles. Even though I liked it, I get exhausted after an episode.

DW and I gave it a break after we watched 3 episodes. Some other shows started up and we didn't have time.

Last night we fired it back up, and discovered that Netflix added an English dub, if you choose.

We choose to watch it this way. I read a bit about the dub and found out the main character's voice actor is actually on the spectrum.

It's not a bad dub. Yeah, it has its faults. For us, it sure is easier to watch.

I'm really late to the party but I just started watching The Mandalorian as I finally turned on Disney+ for a while.

I honestly think this is the best Star Wars stuff since the original trilogy. I love the exploration of fatherhood, but especially the depiction of the messy years after a major war. Sure, there are fireworks and ceremony, but the years after are not easy. Power vacuums, insurgencies, hangers-on, and so on. This is all depicted very well.

Finally, I like the fact that Mandalorian, although apparently good, also has a rough side and treads that in-between zone.

Andor is really good too when you get through Mando. I'm only half way through but really liking it.

You can skip Obi-Wan!

Just finished "House of the Dragon" (HBO I think). Not as good as GOT. A little slow in parts. Started to perk up in the last few episodes.

The psychological thriller "The Devil's Hour" (not about evil). Rotten Tomatoes gave it 100%. Six episodes.
Edit: on Prime Video, no charge.

S2 of White Lotus (HBO). Jennifer Coolidge again makes it worth it. Feels a bit darker than the first season. Genre is Dark Comedy. Watch S1 first, and you'll have a few of S2 eps loaded by the time you get there since HBO drops weekly.

S5 of the Crown. Not sure yet how I like this cast, they are mostly my least favorite picks for the principals so far vs the prior seasons (except Leslie Manville, but the Margarets have all been great). They get a whole new cast every two seasons to properly age the actors for the roles.

If the history is accurate, I learned quite a bit from The Crown. Not sure how they get the details (the Fayed's history), Martin Bashir, etc. Not giving anything away.

Agreed. I finished the last episode this past Sunday.
I thought the last few episodes were really good.
Looking forward to season 2. Hope they don’t botch it up. [emoji23]

“The Curse of Oak Island”. New season just started tonight on History channel.

"Could it be?"

I was addicted to that show until I cut the cord. Now I just read the subreddit making fun of it.

Somewhere in the afterlife, someone is having the greatest belly laugh ever. They really pulled the ultimate hoax.

I will admit, when the show gets out of their ridiculous "psychic mode" and gets serious with some of the archeology (as they have the last few seasons), I do find that interesting. Even if it is only ox shoes and latrine pits they are digging up.

Just finished season 5 of The Handmaid's Tale (Hulu) and really liked it.
To be honest, I almost thought of skipping it. After seasons 3 and 4, I was getting tired of the story, but I'm glad I gave season 5 a chance - there were a lot of surprising developments, and I thought it was the best since season 1. Season 6 will be the last one (reportedly).

We started watching "Clarkson's Farm" on Amazon. The show follows Jeremy Clarkson (previous host of Top Gear) as he tries to figure out how to be a farmer. It's quite entertaining and interesting at the same time. He has other folks on the show as well that are just as entertaining.

It’s not a new show, but after discovering Sharon Horgan on Bad Sisters (which we enjoyed), DW and I have started watching Catastrophe on Prime Video. It’s a comedy about an Irish woman living in London who gets pregnant after a weeklong fling with a visiting American. It’s R-rated, mostly for explicit dialog. We’re only a few episodes in, but are finding it entertaining. There are 4 seasons of 6 episodes each. Horgan and Rob Delaney created and wrote the series, in addition to playing the lead roles.

We loved Catastrophe.

I finished the walking dead series finale. I’ve been a zombie fan since I was 6 and just loved this show but it was really hit or miss the last few years.
I’m not sure about the supposed spin off shows. I’ll wait to see if they actually happen.

I’m going to try Fear the Walking Dead and see if that’s any good. Didn’t have time to watch it when I was working.

Finished season 5 of the Handmaids Tale last night. Thought this season was pretty good. Kept my interest.
Season 6 will be the last season for that show. It will be interesting to see how they wrap up the storyline. I obviously did not read the book.

^ those two are the only shows DH and I have bailed on in recent years. Handmaids was great the first season, pretty good the 2nd. But we probably sunk-cost watching by the time season 5 started.

When I told DH there was a 6, we decided to bail.

We too bailed after season 2 of "The Walking Dead"...it just got too depressing for us. Yes, I know it's not real but killing off beloved characters got old. I don't have anything against dark shows (we really liked Ozark and Better Call Saul as a couple of examples) there was just something different about TWD. I do think we were in the minority since it lasted so long.
