Wine is my regular beverage of choice with about 1200 bottles in my cellar, but I also enjoy, on occasion, a sip of bourbon, scotch, or rye. I have about 70 bottles in that collection. Beer, a gin and tonic, a rum and coke, also on occasion. To me, an alcoholic beverage is food and I'll have one or two to pair with my dinner. We don't go to bars, drink or drive, or drink to get sloshed.

Craft beer primarily but enjoy bourbon too. Dry right now and really not tempted to indulge though.

Whiskey here for my wife and I both. Mainly bourbon with a decent amount of rye and the occasional other choice like scotch or Hibiki or some other whiskey. We have enjoyed learning about whiskey over the years and tasting as many of them as we can. We belong to several whiskey clubs. For our 25th anniversary we went to Kentucky to do the Bourbon Trail.

Beer. (I'll vote, even though beer is combined with hard cider-seltzer)? Not sure I understand that. Never drank hard cider in my life.

I think that's to indicate things like White Claw, and all the seltzer drinks now taking over space in the beer fridge at most supermarkets. They seem to have a lot of appeal to beer drinkers, and fall into that same 4-5% alcohol in a can category.

Typically a beer before dinner and a wee dram (a nice blend or single malt) after. A glass of everyday wine instead of beer if we’re having pizza or pasta; nice wine on special occasions.

Beer guy...but only craft beers and I rarely have more than 1 or 2. The 'brewpub boom' the last few years has been great. I pick up a 4pk of 'local' IPA or choose what's fresh on tap when going out. Most are 6-8% Alc and quite filling so only one is needed. I love the choices available now...20 years ago we were limited to mega beers like Bud, Miller, Heineken, etc.

Voted for beer as my fav, but have to restrict consumption for medical reasons. I also enjoy wine, white/rose in summer and red year-round. Fav liquor is scotch.

Why all the combos?

Cocktails/mixed drink/liquor/RTDs
Wine/wine based cocktails
Beer/hard cider-seltzer

Beer and hard cider-seltzer? Beer (and to be clear, that means "craft beer", not some sort of mass produced light-lager) is my go-to drink, almost never any hard cider-seltzer. Very different drinks.

Is a straight and serious Bourbon or Scotch drinker supposed to choose "Cocktails/mixed drink/liquor/RTDs", for 'liquor'? 'RTD'? Ready-to-Drink?

And most serious wine drinkers would rarely ever drink a wine based cocktail.

IMO, a very odd set of choices. Not voting. But as mentioned, beer is my go-to, then wine when it suits me (or the beer choice is poor), then an occasional Bourbon or Scotch, and a very occasional 'cocktail'.

Minimizing alcohol for health reasons. I like both white and red wines on holidays meals, depending on the occasion and the protein. About twice a year DH and I go out for a drink. I like a good strawberry margarita for that circumstance. Drinking now limited to 3-5 times per year. DH only likes sweet mixed drinks, DS at age 31 has zero interest in alcohol, thankfully.

... Beer is only good if it is very cold IMO so if I drink it I have to drink it fast. ...

Most craft beers are best a bit warmer, certainly not ice cold. Maybe you could savor those a bit longer, and enjoy the flavor w/o guzzling them?

My favorite beer is a bitter from a British pub, typically served at room temperature. One of the top things I look forward to, when we travel there.

I'm personally an Old Fashioned or whiskey and Coke drinker myself. I'm firmly a "moderate" drinker by definition (1-2 drinks a day, but not daily) during the week, but I'm going to have to reduce further since I seem to sleep more poorly through the night after a couple of drinks. You'd think it was the other way around?

When camping or out fishing I prefer some of the low-calorie beers on the market.

I used to drink in social occasions.

But a few close friends and family had problems with it. I quit in solidarity when they tried to dry out.

It's weird, I'll think about having a drink before a nice restaurant meal. But when it comes time to order, I say 'nah'.

Beer for me. Became good at drinking it in college, typically the cheap American lager types. Now like a good IPA or other craft style beer. However, as I joke with friends, my two favorite beers are Free and Cold.

I didn't see a choice for 'All of the Above' in the Poll.....Ha-Ha !!

But seriously, I do not drink to excess. I like the local Microbreweries with fresh Lagers and IPA's. These Brauhauses often have free entertainment by local bands and we've found a few we like to follow.

Wine with dinner at home is usually a Malbec. That's a good grape with French origins, but grows well on the Argentine slopes. Well priced at Total Wine too.

I like Bourbon in the cooler months, on the rocks with a splash of water to let it breathe.

Charleston County imposes a hefty tax on Booze in Restaurants....they want the Tourists to fill their coffers. I drink a Sweet Tea when dining out.

I like beer. Especially the beer I brew myself.

Like Galaxy, I enjoyed brewing. Cant wait to get the house done so I can dig the brewing stuff out of storage. Wasn't uncommon to have 3 kegs in the fridge. My regular go to is high gravity craft beers. In a BTD moment, I bought my most expensive bottle of beer...

Am I the only one drinking moonshine? Got a friend that brews some of the best I've ever had.

When I drank I preferred micro brews. One of the keys to losing 50lbs was to eat all my calories and not waste them drinking anything with calories. So I have 2 cups of coffee and then water the rest of the day. NA beers are much lower in calories so I occasionally have one.

One of my favorite bars has at least one tap on a beer engine. This summer, the bar's air conditioning went out on a hot day, and I still was in the mood for one of those beers. The owner laughed and said, "I don't think you do." She gave me a taste, and it was warmer than my body temperature. I ordered a cold one.

No booze for me.

+1000

Frank and I don't drink anything alcoholic, or take recreational drugs. We don't care what others do, but that is our choice.

He works in a bar from time to time, and they don't have to worry about him drinking at work. Instead they give him all the free Diet Coke he wants and everybody's happy.

I was on my phone earlier so couldn't add a photo to my post easily.

This is a shot of our bar. Not taken recently so some bottles have changed but you get the idea. The shelves are 3 bottles deep, all different, and there are some that don't fit in the bar though not too many currently.

So I saw this response early this morning and made a mental note to check when I was at Walmart this morning. Sure enough there was one cooler dedicated to seltzer drinks (never noticed that) and it was at the end of the 10 to 12 coolers for beer. So a ~10 to 1 ratio which is why I probably never noticed it. I may try one, someday!

As a side note, while I was looking around in the beer aisle to see what was new, I noticed that Corona (my favorite) now offers a non alcohol brew too. I guess that is "near beer".
