What We're Making

Another reason to get a 3d printer... Cool application.

Great solution Ron. I’m amazed at the number of ways people have figured out how to use a 3D printer.

Thanks. I'm thinking that I need a second printer. I was printing 3 little bins for DW. They took 9 hours each to print. So my stuff had to wait more than a day for hers to finish printing. Unacceptable.

We had 2 power outages during one of the bin prints. Printer quit before the generator came on. Printer had cooled down by the time I noticed that it had stopped. I hit continue and it continued with the print. I don't know how the after outage part of the print adhered to the before outage part, but it seems like a solid continuation.

Women, can't live with & without

Mine just asked me when I was getting to her projects... A week after asking when I was going to get more clients!

I like everything in my workshop to be on wheels. But my never-ending kayak project took up a lot of disorganized space on immovable sawhorses. So I came up with an idea for a moveable kayak stand. This will allow me to move the project outside in spring and summer for messy final sanding/ fiberglass/ varnish.

That moveable kayak stand is almost (but not quite) as impressive as the kayak. Is that how you will store the kayak when finished? I am always impressed with the skills of the wood craftspeople here.

Thanks. I have a few options for storing the kayak. On this stand, strapped to the ceiling of my shop, or strapped to the ceiling of DW's garage.

I'd like to do something like this but DW doesnt like the idea

Beautiful work Ronstar. I really like the storage one hung from ceiling. A western rustic look.

Thanks again for sharing your project. All of you do professional work.

Looks great suspended from the ceiling like the first picture.
In the late 70s I drove my VW bus to Canada to see a "Cordwood House" built by Jack Henstridge. It was quite large with a 2 story central living room where he hung his experimental airplane.

I vote for the wall mounted one. Shows the art of the inside and out. The practical side of me says it'll be easier to dust on cleaning day...

Looking forward to seeing the end product.

I've tried to talk DW into doing that with my R/C models, but no go. She grumbled something about "not living in a hobby shop". So this is the workshop ceiling:

A great way to store them, now you need to get them upstairs in your sitting room.

After my back surgery years ago the only place I could sit and not be in pain was on my motorcycle. My DW wouldn't go for the idea of parking it in the living room either. Bummer!

Scratching a client's organization itch. All clearcoat poplar on pre-uv'd 1/4" birch. And lots of dado's...

Surewhitey, looks like some serious work to get those end results. Another great piece of work! Thanks for sharing your projects.

Almost done with my tool cabinet. Currently the left door has an inner door, while the right door does not. I need to add the right inner door and holders for about 10 more chisels. Then this part will be done.

Nice tool cabinet Ronstar. I built myself a woodworking show around 8 years ago. Mostly I make sawdust, mistakes and a mess.

What a great piece of work and such a useful project. That would be a nightmare for me to build and again you make it look so easy.

Thanks, Ronstar again for sharing your projects.

Thanks guys - I didn't realize that I posted a pic of this a while ago. I've been working on it for a month and a half, so maybe that explains why I forgot.

I love those. I want some exactly like that. Just need to find someone local to do it. We have some that are universal that do well, but I want a slot specific to each piece in the silverware set.

Beautiful work.

I'm in Dallas if you are near...

Thanks guys. I've been wanting to do a nice organizer to practice accuracy and dado's. Got to use my sled for cross cutting the slots too. Right tools make it nice to do.
