This is 20 slides, about 20 pictures with comments, and a couple of videos of my adventure starting in the north of Romania, to the southern most point of Romania on the Black Sea. On the most impractical form of transportation that one can imagine.

Looks like a lot of fun, we loved Romania also.

I've never heard of "Roma". I was never in any big cities except for Bucharest on the way out, and I kept to the tourist areas there. I was never the least bit uncomfortable, even when I was solo, because everyone was super helpful and friendly. There were many times where I needed and asked for help, got help, and the helper wouldn't take money. This includes one instance where a mechanic changed the oil (I asked for a wrench, and before you know it, he was working on my bike). Same thing happened when I needed to tighten the chain. In these small villages, I get the feeling that not much different happens, so when I looked up after the chain was tightened, there were about 15 people looking. Not threatening, but surprising. It seemed they all wanted to be in on "the goofy guy that came through on the mini-bike" story.

The videos do not play, even directly out of the Google shared directory.

Loved to see the photos. Looks like fun, but I can handle only a day trip with all that mud and not longer. People have done longer trips with a Honda Cub variant, and that's a lot more comfortable.

Or better yet, the trail bike CT110 which would be luxurious compared to that monkey bike. I probably can take that CT110 to Siberia and back.

Often known as Gypsies, they abound in many areas, (Sighișoara being one), and are not particularly highly regarded by the average Romanian.

Awesome. Two thumbs up.

You Carolinians seem to get up to a lot of stupid, fun stuff around the world.
Something in the water down there ?

Inspiring. :baconflag:

p.s. the embedded videos worked for me

That would be a much better bike. Probably not that much heavier, but more power and more comfortable. But then again, it's not supposed to be easy or it wouldn't be an adventure.

I've had trouble with this quite a bit, but when launched from facebook. I figured it was just Google throwing a wrench at Zuck, but whyowhy doesn't it work from google's own slides? Certainly a bug on their end, because it works for me. A quick google suggests that maybe clearing browser cache, turning off the flash plug-in, and other machinations might help, but not worth the trouble to see those. Maybe I'll move them directly to youtube.

Looks like an adventure-wasn't it uncomfortable on such a small bike?

Yes. Comfort was purposefully omitted by the travel company (The Adventurists), that set up the event. Tedious stuff and hassle was reduced (they got the bikes, with paperwork, to the starting line and picked them up at the finish line), but it's supposed to be "hard". This is one of their "less hard" adventures...shorter and Romania is a walk in the park compared to, say, driving a Fiat with two other people from the UK to Mongolia.

What an adventure ! The videos played for me and the pictures were anything but boring .

Congrats , that is a once in a lifetime adventure. Or Is IT:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:?
would not have b@lls to attempt that, well done !

Stuff I used to do a long time ago. Great to see you enjoying "out of the way" places. Brought up some good memories.

What an adventure. It is amazing what people are doing out in the world, as I sit here at my computer. Videos worked for me.

That looks like so much fun! I loved the traffic jam - how the sheep and dogs were checking you out, like "Who is this weirdo on our path?"

Yeah, I know...the traffic jam was just a 'nuther world experience. I noticed two big sheep, I now call them "Bill and Bob", stop and look at me. I imagine they're thinking "should we do anything about this guy?" They decide "no", and move on. Then later, two young black dogs notice me. The one looks at the other "should we bark?", then looks back at me, starts barking, and the other one joins in. I felt kind of invincible, sitting on my 49cc steed with my helmet, boots and leather jacket, just soaked it all in.

Amazing! Thanks for sharing.

I had to share this with two crazy friends of mine (partially ER'd) who love going on bike trips. They were riding in Vietnam recently and had a wonderful time there. I should have asked first, but got caught up in the travelogue - sorry.

The more the merrier!

Love the sheep and dogs video - and what an adventure. I like those types of trips...great experiences to reminisce about later. Thank you for sharing.
