Ronstar, that is a great photo.
The bison face a storm head on. They put their head into the wind in storm condition unlike most domestic or other big game animals.

When you look close at the picture the light snow coming down with wind, he is facing into the wind/storm. Any way that is what it appears to me from the picture.
Thanks for the picture.

Wow - I didn't know that bison face storms head on. And these bison were facing west into the wind. Until they charge the fence. They don't like me leaning against the fence taking pics.

Tough conditions to get a good photo. Snow, wind and a chain link fence to deal with.

Got a basic Canon DSLR as a Christmas gift. Before I got too nuts into equipment, I need to start understanding if I even have the most basic of skills in framing shots, dealing with lighting, etc. Only then can I decide if I should pursue mirrorless, telephoto and so on.

Should be fun.

There's a lot of great tutorials online. Joel Sartore and Joel Grimes come to mind. And sometimes local colleges have photography classes.

I find that the fun doesn't come all from photography, but mostly from the thrill of the hunt.

Enjoy!

Besides an interesting object, do you know what type of mushroom it is?

I don't know anything about mushrooms, but an identification app says it may be amanita fibrillopes.

A lovely evening the other day.

So many beautiful photos, everyone!

A beautiful day, water running in the cricks full sun and blue sky. Went to ranch to do some putzing and found a few surprises. That time of year again.
A few pictures I took and one from a game cam.

Nice ranch pics! Lots of winter activity going on.

New to the group after lurking and learning for a while. Retired at the end of last month at 57 and so far, so good. I bought myself a nice retirement gift ( Leica Q2) and re-learning photography and was glad to find this thread. here are a few walk-about shots from the new hardware.
