What We're Making

Finished the 2 walnut vanities and the bookmatch grain doors are pretty dramatic.

Using the scraps of the job to make a new TV cabinet for DW... Coming soon.

Somewhat hesitant to show this after seeing surewhitey's really nice vanity but decided the 25 year old oak vanity in my guest bathroom needed a facelift. Had some leftover mahogany hardwood to make new drawer fronts and purchased a sheet of mahogany veneer to reface the old cabinet. First time I've used veneer, really liked the way it worked out.

Nice jobs all! There are some really talented people in this group. I enjoy very much seeing/reading about projects!

Very nice! Mahogany and shaker at its finest!

Needed a toolbox for my leather working tools. Cherry with an oil and wax finish. Also sliding tray.

beautiful tool box. sliding tray was a nice touch that took a lot of detail. Really like the floor it's sitting on - did you install that?

Thanks - the “floor” is really a piece of plywood that I attached barn wood to for a photo backdrop. I wish the floor was like this.

Another beautiful piece of work and craftsmanship, Ronstar.

Used the leftovers for our new TV cabinet...

That really, really turned out nice! The bathroom vanity in the house we moved into this year needs a facelift like that. Wasn't sure I wanted to tackle it though, but you've inspired me.

I'll wait until we get the rest of the bathroom remodeled, we really want to have the big Jacuzzi taken out (we would never use it, it just takes up space) and a walk in shower added. Might as well make it wheelchair accessible. Then the old shower can become a closet. So I'd rather wait until construction like that is done.

It makes it a lot easier to work on (refacing, staining, etc.) if you can remove the cabinet to do the work . My main water shutoff valve is in the wall behind the cabinet and needed to be replaced because it didn't close all the way, the plumber wanted the cabinet removed and the wall opened up so he had room to work. Decided that was a good time to do both.

My brother, doing some finishing work on the porch at our sister's. I brought over some 6.5" tall aluminum shoring I-beams that were surplus on a job. They made a super rigid handy foundation for the porch.

He had some astroturf for the deck, and some composite shingles for a non-slip surface on the steps. I used the pipe insulation for a comfortable hand grip.

Most of the material was salvaged from the house. Those 2x12s were from the patio roof.

Finished my map frame. Pine, gel stain, some walnut danish oil and black wax. Distressed a little.

Not much but I just finished 9 of these cement garden stepper stones for my Adult leaders. The fleur-de-lis is supposed to have bird seed in it the while the circle is to hold a Scout coin. My way of saying thanks to the volunteers who keep our organization operating.

I love it. 100 years in the USA for the BSA was 2010 iirc. Is this a different Scout association?

Lawrencewendall, a great project and fun to make things for purpose like ours.

Ronstar, beautiful work once again. I really like the dark rich finish on both projects.

That's a cool idea Lawrencewendall.

Nice Ronstar. Bro wanted this made after POP passed a few years ago. A little big, but he apparently had room for it.
