Made my first eagle yesterday. Crane Creek number nine. Driver then nine iron. Pretty cool.
Congrats! I take it you holed a 9i approach on a par 4? Sweet!

congrats Jim!

I'm in htown doing my dad's taxes. Played in the money game yesterday at hearthstone; birdied 1 horse with a pop and won a skin. hit an old 7 wood 208y off of a sidehill lie to 10 ft and made putt. (yes, it was a terrible drive lol).

It was chilly today so only played the front nine. I tied my low score of 39. Too bad it happens so rarely.

I have yet to break 80 on a par 70/72 course... I have had a 80 on my home course, a number of low 80s at various courses, a 75 on an executive course (so I don't count that) and countless sub-40 nine-hole rounds... I just haven't been able to put two sub-40 halves together in the same round.

I've even had a number of sub-40 back nines followed a couple days later by a sub-40 front nine. Frustrating!

It all means you’re right on the edge of breaking 80.

A little short game practice and BOOM you’re there. ⛳

I was supposed to in Palm Springs now & teeing off tomorrow & the next two days. But, instead, I’m home in bed with the flu:(

Sorry to hear it. I'm heading to Palm Springs area tomorrow. An old friend who lives in Vegas knows the guy who is an owner of Big Horn Resort and is putting together an outing. They did this two weeks ago (I couldn't attend) and had 20+ guys. Two days of golf all day, poker all night. Heaven to me.

Haven't been playing much, once every two weeks best I can seem to do is 82-85, although I did finish birdie birdie to shoot 74 once out of last five rounds. Been trying to strengthen and rest back/core.

Our Club Championship is the following weekend. How I play will help me decide whether to enter the Open division, playing Black-Blue tees, the 60-69 division from the whites, or stay home and watch bball while I rest my back. Lol.

Played 9 yesterday. Finally dry enough to play. Big storm just passed through so no golf for a couple of more days due to being too wet. Should be able to play Friday, but then more rain this weekend. See a pattern here? I hate this time of year.

+1, me too. Gotta move south one of these days...

I thought you golf players were more dedicated to the game

Had maybe three sub 80 rounds the whole year. Just before I left for the south shot a 77, 78 and 79 in ten days. Figure I need to quit while I'm ahead.

Just got back from Palm Springs golf/poker trip. While I love golf/poker, these guys are used to playing so big, I was a bit out of my comfort zone.

Played Bighorn Canyon course. In great shape, greens were probably 11-12 stimp. I hit my irons great, 10-12 greens inside of 15 feet. Only made 2 birdies, had 3 doubles, shot 80.

Played with Mike Sexton, commentator for TV poker. He had a bunch of great stories. One was about legendary gambler Puggy Pearson, known for being kind of an intimidating, bully type person. I had seen Puggy almost get into a fight with a guy over a backgammon game when I was in Vegas a long time ago.

Back in the 1970's, the owner of the Horseshoe casino, Benny Binion, invited a bunch of gamblers to an event that included golf. Stakes were pretty high, and Puggy was matched against another 7 handicapper. Puggy came in roaring mad, saying, "Who invited that guy? He's no 7 handicap." Someone said, why Pug, did he whip you? "Whip me? No, I won, but I had to shoot 69 to beat him."

Now that is funny !

Glad you had a good time. Wish I’d been able to make my PS trip but, had to reschedule.

geez the groundhog was right - had tee times but it was too cold for the hitter this weekend brrrrrr

I canceled the weekend and all this week too. Next week is looking iffy too. We have been lucky this winter. I think I've been out 17 times. Mostly nine holes, but two months earlier then last year.

And I thought it was cold here.

We’ve had a cold snap the past few days but, our lows are your highs. We’re kind of weather wimps down here. ;)

saw you on the tee sheet this weekend

I was thinking about sending Mitch your way but you guys are too nice

one of my bros, MJ, eagled #1 yesterday - must have holed out his approach shot

if I started a round like that I'd probably quit and go home

I agree, turn around and call it good after that. I think I told you that my wife made a hole in one after playing for 14 months? Shadow Valley, mishit and rolled it halfway to roll into the hole.

we play golf not to paint pictures, but to write numbers

Golf season is still a couple months away up here, but I did receive my new Garmin S20 golf watch in the mail yesterday... :)

Our weather has taken a step backwards. It's around 20 this morning. Mid 40's by late afternoon.

I still use an old Garmin GPS G3, but have wanted to update and also do something for my wife. Why did you choose the S20?

I bought it was because it was on sale and because it will supposedly last 4 rounds on a charge. The old one was good for only 8 hours, so if I was playing a second round on the same day or forgot to recharge it, then the charge would sometimes run out before the end of the second round.

I don't use the majority of the functions, most of the time all I want is the distance to the green.
