I think most of us, myself included, are all bull$h**ers when it comes to government spending.  What I want the government to do is to cut YOUR goodies, whatever they may be.  My goodies are necessary and non-negotiable.   :D

The trouble with or well-kept secret of conservatives is that they are hypocrites.  Liberals make no concessions about government spending; more is better in their opinion.  GWB has increased spending as much or more than any liberal; why, because that is what WE want.  A true conservative president, who proposed slashing government spending (on defense and especially on entitlement spending) would be in "deep doo-doo", to quote someone.  Note that this spending is being approved by a Republican Congress.  I thought they were conservative.

Even before 9/11 Bush's policies were to cut taxes and increase spending. Yes, the defecit is his fault. And Congress' for its absolute lack of fiscal responsibility. Little wonder when money controls them rather than the public good.
Sam, one can be conservative and at the same time understand that Bush has done a very poor job for us. Its time for this country to realize the tremendous mistake we made with this administration, fess up and make sure that it doesn't happen again.

I hear you. I'm not at all happy with much of this administration's policies, especially those having to do with closing/not closing our borders.

But it's all relative. And the likes of John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, scare the heck out out of me. If I wanted to live under socialism I'd move back to the UK. So I've been choosing what I consider to be the lesser of two evils, I suppose.

I agree with all of this. even "choosing" the "lesser of two evils" (evil of two lessers?). However, I don't actually "choose", being a non-voter and all. I do defend
the present administration when I can do so without
gagging.

I just cringe whenever these people are referred to as
"conservative". Makes me wonder if anyone knows what a
real conservative is any more. I see damn few in or around Washington, DC.

Let's see, possibly, socialism under democrats or big business/big brother under republicans
Both spending "our" money, one primarily on social programs the other on frivolous wars and giving most of "our" money to the most wealthy.

Yes polititian = evil, and I also choose the lesser of the 2 evils.
Which one do you prefer in your pocket or controlling your life?
