USB-C on cell phone to USB-A on computer to transfer data. Easy?

On Amazon, you can buy a Anker USB C Adapter (2 Pack),High-Speed Data Transfer, USB-C to USB 3.0 Female Adapter for $9.99

Agree - I always feel comfortable buying Anker products.

Went to BestBuy to shell out the big bucks. The BestBuy website said the cable was USB-A to USB-C and was a 'charge-and-sync' cable.

Got to the store, and the cable was there but now it is just called 'charging' cable. No mention of data-sync on the box.

Reviews online say it does good data transfer, so, well.......

Sales reps don't know anything about it. Try to sell me a different A to C cable for $20. (The one I was looking at was only $6.99. )

Bought the $6.99 cable. I told them I wanted it for file transfer, and would return it if it didn't work. They said OK, no prob. Will get full refund if return within 14 days.

Wow. Hoping it works, lol.

Update: it worked! I transferred a photo from my phone to my computer. It is the 'Best Buy Essentials' brand.

Now that you have one you know works, buy another as a spare! These things sometimes do go bad.

I also use something like this to verify how much charge current I'm getting, it provides some nice feedback.

I bought a supply of Apple lightning to USB-C adaptors since I have many very good lightning cords. I also bought some USB A to USB C adaptors. So far they work quite well for both data and power.

I have decided any and all of future devices will be USB-C.

I do not do a cable transfer. I move my photos to iCloud via an app on my phone and then download to my computer from there.

Hmmmm OP said he has Nokia 2780 flip phone.

Oops, missed that part about the flip phone.

Just because it is a flip phone doesn't mean it can't do things like send photos to the cloud (or transfer over Bluetooth):

Everything you need to stay connected

Browse the Internet and download all your favorite apps – all on 4G

It has its own 'store', so apps are more limited, but the basics seem to be there.

I was responding to the iCloud comment above. I took a quick look. It doesn't appear the phone has any ability to sync directly from the phone to iCloud. So, you would probably have to use workarounds to get the photos to iCloud with something else. Not sure if OP actually has much if any data either, he doesn't have wifi. I think his cable method is working for him, though.

Sure, but I took "iCloud" in the more generic sense of cloud storage of photos.

Apple is not the only game in town, and a Nokia phone is obviously not an Apple product.
