What do you spend for gas in a year?

Actual gasoline expense in 2017 was $2100. That's for 2 drivers (both retired) and 3 vehicles including a gas-guzzling Chevrolet Suburban. Prior year was $1900. Last year included about 15-20 trips to our rental house in a nearby city as we were prepping it for sale. We also made a pretty long road trip to the Kansas City area to see the solar eclipse. Most of our driving is just errands around town or to babysit the granddaughter, which is a 85-mile round trip, probably once a week on average.

OMG! I would be a wealthy man if I spend what some of you spend on gas. LOL

I also walk and bike places also but my miles add up going up in the back country and many outdoor sports/activities I enjoy doing.

I drive very little and I have a small, economical car. I spend about $420 a year on gas. It is so low that I don't keep a separate line item for it; it gets lumped in with my general cash expenses. I fill up every 3-4 weeks and put in ~$28.

Well, but that's good! Sports and activities are healthy and add to quality of life. If you categorize your spending, and have a "fitness" or "hobby" category, you could probably even assign some of your gasoline expenses to that.

Last year with DW still w*rking: $2,654
This year with both retired: on track for $3,132. That includes several trips just in the first three months of the year to the Cape to visit the grandkids (~350 mile round trip). I can't imagine a better reason for our gas costs to rise!

Using an average exchange rate of £1 to $1.4 I spent $424 last year covering ~5,000 miles. Just one car and most everything is a short walk away so the car stays put for days at a time and doesn’t do many short journeys.

For one person, gasoline was about $700 in 2016 and $850 in 2017 while still working. The $150 difference is that I drove to see family at Christmas in 2017 and flew in 2016. My other vacations were by plane. My car uses premium gasoline.

Now I'm retired and am taking several road trips my first year of retirement. Gasoline costs are $300 for 1Q 2018. I would be spending more but outside my road trips I am staying home a lot as am focusing on decluttering my home and a diet/exercise regimen.

$1200 per year for me- work commute included. DH's gas expenditures depend on work. Last year about $3600

According to Quicken, $1685 for us last year with 2 cars. Since 2006 it has ranged from a high of $4,306 (2012, high gas prices, 3 cars, and teenagers still at home) to a low of $1585 (2016, my first full year of working from home).

First quarter this year we spent $387, so we are likely going to end up in the 1550-1650 range. It will be interesting to see what happens after I retire in June.

What do you figure you spend in fuel per year?

Nothing. I ride a bicycle :D

Maybe $30/year in bike repairs and around $120/year on bus fares. I use my feet and bicycle for almost everything. Sorry to be so unhelpful!

2017 2359.26
2016 2004.62
2015 2170.33
2014 3199.17
2013 3427.81
2012 3364.67

The variation is entirely due to gasoline costs, as we both commuted the same distance in the same two cars during each of those 6 years, driving a combined 34-35,000 miles per year.

That is interesting and sounds like no car at all. I walk and bike to places when I'm in town but not all the time. A lot of money could be saved with out owning a vehicle.

I can't track gas specifically, as 90% of it is with discounted gas cards from publix - yay me.

About every other week, Publix runs a deal for $10 off on a $50 gas card with your grocery purchase. So, a few times I've missed the deal or needed more gas (trip, approaching hurricane), but pretty much always with these. If you're in publix-territory, check the weekly flyers (should be one this week coming up).

That said, we must be under $1k a year. I do most of the driving and those gas cards usually last me a month.

2017 2889.30
2016 1677.31
2015 2530.97

Just me- I don't keep track of DW's spending.
Lots of road trips

When gas was $4.00/gal, and I drove a pickup, fill-ups were around $80. With today’s gas prices, and a Prius, a tank o’ gas is more like $20.

3 cars that use Premium Unleaded. $3,300 in 2017. $275/month.

Could do better, but gasoline is pretty low on our expense list.

Including all gasoline and diesel fuel for cars, motorcycles, mowers and tractor the average expenditure over the last five years was $2,123.75.
That includes vacation travel in personal and rented cars.

About $2500 a year for my car, mostly on a long-distance commute to work. My wife spends another $800 or so.

Last twelve months;
$2,814.24 (Gotta love Quicken!)
NOTE: includes Diesel for my truck

I seem to spend a lot of money on gas each year. I'm not complaining about it I wouldn't have to spend that much but I do and I want to. LOL

So I run close to 2000 bucks a year in gas for my outfits. What do you figure you spend in fuel per year?

Thanks

Probably more than most as along with beans i eat a lot of cabbage and broccoli.

Gasoline, somewhere around $2600 including the RV trips.
