What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

I've been watching Bling Empire on Netflix (although I've been making ample use of the Fast Forward button on my remote ...) Hopefully watching this show won't shave too many points off my IQ (some damage is inevitable, unfortunately :( ).

I had never heard of the AMEX black card. AFAIK no one has ever mentioned it on this website. I'm not expecting an invitation from AMEX any time soon. :nonono:

Why does it seem that every network has created a separate streaming option.

Wish the Golf Channel would join the trend. Currently have a lower tier Dish package that doesn't include the Golf Channel, would cost an additional $25/mo for the package that has it and the Golf Channel is the only channel in that package I have an interest in so it wasn't worth it. Tried PGA Tour Live ($65/yr) but it has limitations.

I forget who recommended it, but we've been watching and enjoying the mayhem that is "Fauda". On season 3 now (Netflix). Action packed and a lot of violence.

We are watching Warrior on HBO Max and finished watching Star Trek Discovery Season 3 and Coyote on CBS All-Access. My wife was binge watching Vanderpump Rules Season 8.

Just watched the first episode of Patria on HBO Max.

It's about life around the time of the ETA separatist movement and how if affected two Basque families.

Not exactly cheerful fare but it's interesting.

We just finished 'The Valhalla Murders' and are now watching 'Dark'. It's interesting to see foreign, non-English speaking TV series. 'Dark' seems like the darker German version of 'Stranger Things' in some ways.

Sure wish I could watch either Raised by Wolves or Yellowstone without having to pay for it. But I only have Netflix, Prime, and Apple TV.

Do you think someday there will be a service that provides access to all television content? Similar to how Amazon Music or some of the other music services essentially give access to all music.

You would think there would be some consolidation. Some streaming services go out of business or gets swallowed by larger ones.

But now most of the services have pretty big media companies backing them and they see streaming as more or less the future.

The bigger ones have enough content that people want to watch that they keep their subscriber numbers up.

So for awhile, we may have to subscribe to 2 or more to get enough of the shows one may want to watch.

Later seasons of Dark got really really weird and hard to follow for me..hopefully you’ll like it better..

Anyone mentioned Lupin? Love that one...

I'm almost done with Dark. I have a few more episodes to go. Your observation is a common one. I still suggest people watch at least the first two seasons. And if you like it and see where it is going, continue. Otherwise you are fine ending at Season 2. Plenty of enjoyment from that.

The story is incredibly intricate and well thought out. The sets are superb with alternate year settings done very well. The acting and direction is top notch. The English dub is too bright and loud, and not always the best. (Also, how does only one family member have an Irish accent?) They also missed an opportunity to properly translate a joke in season 2, which is about the only joke in the whole series. Still, if you want to understand it best, the English dub is most accessible.

Quick view tip: when you hear a "click" on scene changes, the year changed. Second tip: after about episode 7 of season 1, pull up the "Family Tree" section of wikipedia for season 1. Do not look at any other wikipedia section. Do not pull it up before episode 7, otherwise you risk spoilers. The family tree will help you make some sense and keep track of the long character list. Look only at the family tree for your season.

I've never seen Stranger Things. It is next on my list. Comparisons have been made by others. I find comparisons to Twin Peaks. Except, Dark is efficiently German and tries to be pseuo-scientific, whereas Twin Peaks was artistic with pure fantasy. There are no backward talking little men in Dark. Dark has almost zero humor too. There's a reason it is Dark.

After I finish, it will be time to watch in German with the German captions. I know some German, but the slang and complex topics eventually got me. I think on a second try it will be fun since I'll have context.

Oh, BTW, if Back To the Future uses simple math, then consider Dark like this: season 1 - simple math, season 2 - algebra, season 3 - calculus. And yes, they do briefly reference Back To The Future. Why not? :)

I noticed a Disney documentary on Netflix. Just an hour-long, but highly recommended. The camera work and the creatures warm the heart.

Ghost of the Mountains | Netflix
An international group of filmmakers sets out on a mission to get up close and personal with a family of elusive snow leopards.

I have a friend who works for AMEX exclusively with cardholders that charge a minimum of $1M per year. Not my world.

I'm watching Mad Man. I'm watching S1EP5 currently. Does this show get any better later on? So far, it's been pretty slow and kind of boring...

Stick it out for a few more episodes. I'm well into season three and really enjoying it since (not a spoiler) the upcoming ownership situation closely parallels what happened at the company where I worked.

Thanks. One question: Did you think it was dragging a bit when you were watching the first several episodes?

^ Yes. It gets better - at least it did for me.

Got it. Thanks! I will watch a few more episodes and see. It won a lot of awards, so I know a lot of people thought it was very good.

I think it only fair that I disclose one of the primary attractions for me is January Jones (Betty Draper). I'm enjoying every minute she appears on screen.

 She does look nice.

Mad Men is more about the style and production. Some of the depictions of the 60s scare me they are so real to my childhood memories. It is also fun to watch the styles change as the years advance.

I found I could follow the story, skip a few episodes, and still enjoy it. I had to because I was watching it on linear TV. If anything, skipping a few episodes added to the mystery of Don Draper.

I did watch the last few episodes of the entire series. Some endings were satisfying, others left me puzzled. Don's ending just makes me smile and transports me right back to that time.

Give it a chance. If you must, skip an episode or two. That's my opinion. Others may consider that travesty.[emoji3]

I understand what you mean about the style and production. I remember people smoking everywhere in the old days. Trains, planes, movie theatres, restaurants, etc... The 60's culture and the dresses that women used to wear, etc. are all interesting, but the storyline seems to develop so very slowly. Maybe it just seems that way because I watched a couple of intense shows before this, like The Handmaid's Tale and Homeland.

Yep, I might skip an episode here and there or fast forward if things are going too slow. Thanks.

There are some interesting story lines. The first season sets up a lot. Don't give up.

Watched a series called Mythic Quest from Apple TV. Sort of similar to the show Silicon Valley, it is a workplace comedy set at a video game company. It was okay. Not nearly as good as the early seasons of Silicon Valley.

However, in the middle of the series is a standalone episode that has almost nothing to do with the show. Different story, different characters, etc.. And it was incredibly well done. Almost like a small bittersweet movie. Following a couple over 20 years as they work in the video game industry.

If the rest of the show had of been as good as that one unrelated episode it would have been one of the best tv series in a long time.
