Must be paying for the wedding too?

That will be the real BTD expense, if the daughter is bridezilla.

Congrats Corn, Up next are grandkids, wonderful to experience them....

Then you'll really be blowing the Dough. Contribute to 529's, buy field hockey/LAX sticks etc etc....

Kids are BTD from prenatal to college for grand kids. All worth it!

I've been thinking about this for a while, finally took the plunge and ordered a Tesla Model Y Long Range. By far the most I've ever spent on a car.

With the current demand for these cars, I won't get it and won't have to pay for it until January or later. But I'll still BTD in 2021 to upgrade the wiring to my detached garage, and that's going to cost quite a bit too. I haven't been this excited about a car since my first new car purchase when I was in my early 20's. :)

We're installing new flooring on the top floor. 4 bedrooms, master bath suite, walking closets x2. Leaving alone one bathroom and laundry room for now. Heavy duty wood look vinyl tile in bathroom and walk in closet, as well as the "office", WTW carpet for the other 3 bedrooms. Oh, and painting-we're doing the trim but have decided to higher the pros who did the downstairs 4 years ago. It feels like we're getting a whole new house!

DayDreaming...that's awesome!!! A good friend just got his Model Y delivered last week (he ordered it in June). I've driven most of the models (I have other friends who have them) and Tesla's are awesome! I can't think of a better way to BTD! A Tesla will most likely be my next car purchase also.
Enjoy the RIDE and anticipation!

This is not something we do! Well we did this time.

I went to visit my daughter (400 mile ride) for her birthday. She turned 30.
Back in 2001 she missed her birthday because of 9-11, so she wanted to recreate a 2001 birthday, her husband wore a bright yellow track suit, she wore a tank top and high rise small bell jeans, hair clipped back on both sides, one friend wore a green track suit. Let me tell you, they wore them proud!

Anyway, the blow that dough part, before the skating party :) we went to a higher end restaurant, (little did I know how high end). My wife and and told the waitress to bring the bill to us, for 6 of us, the cost was $549 plus another $100 for the tip. Silly me, I reached in my wallet and pulled out 2- $100 bills, my wife started digging, then I looked at the bill, and pulled out some more, a lot more.
If I get any pics of the track suit boys, I'll post one, they played it up well and it was a lot of fun. My 66 year old bones did OK on the skating rink, I fell twice, once just getting from the carpet to the skate floor, a 5" step, but by the end of the night it was coming back to me!

We took granddaughter and her mom to lunch at (national restaurant chain name redacted) the other day. I wan't interested in their usual fare so ordered a steak. I would have sworn it said $14.95. The bill came back as $22.95. I discretely had DW check vs a menu and she confirmed the higher price. I of course paid the bill, but wasn't too happy about the BTD for a steak I had to leave half with gristle and fat. Never again though I'm not anti BTD at a nice place. YMMV

I purchased a stealth performance, no longer made, last May. Absolutely unreal. Makes you question why other vehicles are stuck in the past.

Why no longer made? Was it "too good?" Any details?

It looks like a standard model except for the performance. Don't think it was that popular and it became a confusing option. The other performance model has offset wheels and this one doesn't.

For me it was perfect. I wanted the speed but not the 21" wheels because of our copious potholes in our area. I didn't want it lower like the performance model is either.

Sounds like good choices on your part. Stealth is ALWAYS good.

My wife is one that always scrutinizes receipts. When she looked at the $500+ bill you can believe she went over every detail!

..

I'm surprised you used cash, I use a CC so I don't have to be concerned about carrying enough cash.

We are having the bathroom renovated and the Toto toilet just went in. This thing is hugely popular in Japan. Heated seat, front and back washers, blow dryer. Definitely a blow that dough appliance.

Ordered up some more wagyu from Snake River Farms. (4) six ounce tenderloins, (1) 20 oz rib-eye cap and 2 pounds of burger.

Three hundred fifty - :)

Ah, I forgot to report on the meal I had with my children up in our high-country home two weekends ago.

My daughter brought up the Snake River Farms tenderloins. I put them on the grill, with just salt and pepper, and cooked to medium rare. When nearly done, I poured some melted butter with garlic on them.

We all thought the meat was great. Definitely more flavorful than the regular tenderloin, which is usually bland because it's too lean, sometimes even boring. Here, you have the tenderness, plus more fat, although the marbling was nothing like Japanese Wagyu (which looks way too fatty to me).

The truth is that, I found the flavor to be the same as a regular ribeye or a top sirloin, but as tender as a tenderloin.

Cool.

Yeah, they're expensive, but worth it to me and I'll be ordering more for sure. Not an every day staple of course, but for a "treat" they they are hard to beat.

Not to mention I like to support USA more than Japan.

The last time we went to Fleming's Steakhouse, I remember paying more than $50 for a filet, before any trimming. This Snake River Farms tenderloin costs the same, but tastier.

I did not ask my daughter how her order was shipped. On the Web, it says standard shipping is $10, and 2-day air is $25. Can the dry ice last long enough for standard shipping? Would one take that risk?

And speaking of Japanese Wagyu, I don't know about eating a steak with 50% fat (people on the Web recommend eating only a small portion).

If I get it, Costco sells shabu-shabu style thinly sliced cuts, which I will serve with a table-top grill, à la Korean or Mongolian grill.

@Teacher Terry that is a gratifying spend.
Skyking,
I ordered new windows for my townhome.
I was excited about this, because the originals were in terrible shape, and I'm fired up about getting my new place fixed up.
The installers damaged my stucco in multiple places, banged up the interior plaster around several of the openings, and messed up one of the windows.
I think it will all get straightened out properly in the end, but it is a hassle, and is making the whole process a little disappointing. I'm trying to stay positive about it.
Take care, JP

Under no circumstances engage the services of Howard, Howard and Fine for installing anything.

Over the weekend we made a deposit on a '22 Prius Prime that should be available some time in November.

Howard: "Get the tools." Fine: "What tools?" Howard: "The tools we've been using for the last 10 years." Fine: "Oh, those tools."

Oh, I found it.
