What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

I signed up for the 2 months of Britbox for 99C a month promotion and blew through

Traces
The Tower
Shetland
The Coroner
Crime
Bancroft
Death In Paradise Xmas Edition.
Whitechapel - The last season was very creepy.

They also show Good Morning Britain every day and a lot of other stuff that I want to watch but for now I'm moving over to Hulu which I have not even watched yet since I signed up for the November Promo.
So much to see, so little time..
Note Britbox has a lot of older shows that can be seen for free on IMDB,Roku Channel or Hulu. I have a long list made up and am watching New Tricks on Hulu right now.
Pluto also has a free limited Britbox channel but nothing on demand last time I checked, just live TV.

You don't want to miss:

Father Brown
Vera (you'll love her)
The Bill
Line of Duty
The Bay

and for absolute foolishness:

"Benidorm" and "Gill Mayo Mysteries"

I need about four more shows like All Creatures Great and Small. Already watched The Durrells of Corfu. Need to remember which season I stopped watching Call The Midwife.

In my previous reply I don't know how in the world I forgot to mention The Good Karma Hospital on Acorn. And according to the intertubes Series 4 should be airing in the UK now, so I'm hoping it comes to the USA soon. It's definitely one of our favorites, right up there with the shows you mentioned.

I’ve watched several of these on Brit Box and they are top notch. The Brits do crime and, police dramas the best.

I’m halfway through Season 1 of another Brit Box series, “Hope Street.” (From 2020). A different take on a Police show, with a bit of humor (It’s actually listed as a comedy but I wouldn’t call it that). Takes place in a small close knit town in Ireland with some clever crimes being solved and an underlying story line of a “new” officer
Who joins the force from England. Plenty of other continuing plot lines running through the episodes. Another worthwhile Brit series to check out.

I'm most of the way through the first season of Reacher on Amazon Prime.

I think it is very well done and mostly true to the books.

I can buy the current actor as Jack Reacher much more than Tom Cruise who portrayed him in a couple movie adaptations.

Oh my the Reacher series has started off good! I didn't watch any of the movies because Reacher is not 5'2" or whatever Tom is...that doesn't intimidate a squirrel.

lol..Mutt and Jeff. no comparison. we just binged S1 last night and tonight and we both loved it! here’s hoping there’s a S2, S3, S4….S20. lol

I saw Reacher Ep 1 last night and have to agree Alan Ritchson is a much better fit than Tom Cruise. It’s a bit over the top but so is the book.

I've never read the book but Alan Ritchson looks massive. We watched the first episode and we thought it was good and funny. An easy watch.

Watched most of the series "Murderville" on Netflix this weekend. It stars Will Arnett and I thought it was pretty entertaining.

Murderville is an American comedic murder-mystery streaming television series with improvised elements. The premise of the show is that a guest comedian/actor plays the role of a rookie detective and is not shown the script beforehand.

A Discovery of Witches, a little slow, not much different from other seasons but with a definitive ending, the last season.

The first couple of EPs were a bit slow, but once the story started jelling, I started enjoying it more and more. I'm already almost done with S2. Reminds me of Outlander a little bit, but it's entirely different at the same time. And I enjoy those songs at the end of each EP - usually a remake of an old song and it's always kind of haunting - and radically different from the original.

Vera is great, especially the early seasons. The books (not the TV shows) were written by Ann Cleeves, who also wrote the Shetland series. Her latest Matthew Venn stories are also on TV (forget where), but we don't enjoy those as much.
I also endorse Line of Duty. The 5th season was quite a cliffhanger, more so than the 6th.

Someone's probably mentioned this one, but David Tennant's Around the World on PBS is excellent.

Watched the first two episodes last night and enjoyed them. There was an unnecessarily gory scene in episode 2.

I've read all the books (26 of 'em) except the latest one and so far this TV production is true to the books. This story is based on the first book, "Killing Floor." I see there are eight episodes in this series. I would think the story could be told in six episodes, but by no means does the pacing lag (so far.)

Alan Ritchson portrays Reacher in the Amazon Prime production and yes, he is physically much more like the Reacher in the books. The difference being that Cruise can act and Ritchson, well...the jury is still out on this one. There are a lot of scenes consisting of lingering closeup shots of his face with an inscrutable expression on it. A lot of them. He delivers his lines mostly in a monotone. Yes, the character was like that, at times, in the books but the TV portrayal makes him a bit too stoic, IMO.

there is no doubt that Alan is big but I don't think he's as big as his character is supposed to be. IMDb says hs is 6'2" tall. Reacher is supposed to be at least 6'5. camera angles can add the extra 3". but there is no doubt Alan is....stout.

I’ve watched Reacher through episode 4 and I love the character. It’s a great show from my perspective.
I’m watching 2 episodes a night.

Watched the latest episode of All Creatures Great and Small Last night (comes on PBS on Sunday night and I record it) and I thought it was the best yet. I enjoyed everything about it. About a country veterinarian set in a small English village. If you like animals and nice people and beautiful scenery you will enjoy. This is the second season, you could start from the beginning on PBS Passport, $5 per month.

6'2" is close enough, especially since most actors seem to be short so he's working with guys topping out at 5'9". He is actually a bit muscular for the literary Reacher but he's so much better than Cruise. My wife watched the first two episodes with me and kept saying "I just can't see Tom Cruise delivering that line"

We're currently enjoying Hope Street too. And Reacher on Prime.

I'm enjoying "Staged" - a BBC show that I'm watching on Hulu.
It stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen as themselves. The production of their play was put on hold due to Covid, so they decide to rehearse and work out ideas over Zoom while they are in lock-down.

The entire show takes place on Zoom with 2 to 5 people popping in an out. Definitely a show for the times.
