What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

My Life is Murder, Kiwi/Aussie Police Drama and Star Trek Discovery. We always wait till all episodes drop before starting.

Not a new series but I've started "Fringe" on IMDB TV.

I loved the X-Files. Fringe is a rip-off of the X-Files. FBI agents investigating strange phenomenon. A hint of a shadowy powerful group involved in a conspiracy. A character that's roughly the equivalent of the Cigarette Smoking Man. On and on it goes.

You'd think I'd be mad that someone was ripping off one of my favorite shows, but I'm not. Fringe is pretty good so far (I'm 5 episodes into S1) and everything I've read about it says it gets much, much better.

I will have to try that one. Thanks so much !

Just finished watching the 3rd and final season of After Life (Netflix). What an incredibly poignant, funny, powerful, and thought-provoking show. Ricky Gervais is an absolute genius. I hope he does more of this kind of work, mixing irreverent comedy with deep dramatic themes about the philosophy of life, death, love, existence, etc.

"Severance" on AppleTV. Very interesting theory and great cast.

Agreed! I started watching this and it is weird and intriguing all at the same time.
My only complaint is Apple TV’s insistence on the weekly episode format. [emoji849]
Now I have to wait until next week.

"The Andy Warhol Diaries" on Netflix - a docuseries based on a diary Warhol started keeping after he was shot. It reveals a lot about his personal life and is an interesting look back at that time period.

DW and I just watched the first three episodes of "The Dropout."

It is an engaging story, if perhaps drawn out a bit.

I have to say the first episodes of the early employees struggling to make a real demo triggered me. I've worked at both MC's and a startup, and some scenes hit way close to home. I'm not talking about lying or faking, but rather just the struggle to get something working that impacts family time.

So, although I like and recommend the series, be aware that it is also about w*rk, and for us who have ER'd, that sucks.

Just a warning (not a spoiler) for anyone who wants to watch The Dropout on Hulu:

The entire series isn't out out. There will be a total of eight episodes with the final one coming out on April 7. I thought I'd binge the whole series because I saw that it was only 4 episodes, but was disappointed to find out that episode 4 was not the end, and I now have to wait for the next 4.

Just like the good old days!

I'm actually liking the trend of streaming services starting to go back to the future and release episodes on a weekly basis. I realize not everyone agrees, and Netflix seems to be resisting this, but I like the weekly release. Gives me something to look forward to.

Started watching "The Great" a variation of Catherine the Great of Russia. Typical British portrayal of a period monarchy with lots of Rodgering, Gorging and Corruption, quite entertaining.

I just finished watching season 3 of The Bay on BritBox.

I thought it was better than the first two seasons, although I enjoyed them too. I liked the lead character better this time around (the original lead actress left).

I agree. I have only watched the first four episodes -- one a night -- but it is a big step up from the first two seasons... which were quite good, actually.

Just watched Counterpart on amazon. Two seasons only, JK Simmons is billed as the lead but it's an ensemble cast really. Slightly sci-fi thriller, but like all those it's mainly a character drama.

If you liked The Americans, this will work well for you.

Odd, because I absolutely loved The Americans, but found Counterpart to be slow moving and boring.

Yes, the first two seasons were good, but for some reason the story this time around felt like it had more "meat on its bones" if that makes sense.

I’m ok with this model but it does make keeping up on multiple series a bit more challenging. Apple is using this model exclusively.

So while waiting for the next episode of Dropout (to drop) we watched the first 3 episodes on WeWrecked (the Adam Neumann story) on Apple TV+. Another true story of a driven, confident (con?) entrepreneur with a bold vision who gets many others to follow him. This is an even better show than Dropout but will take weeks to complete as they only released 4 episodes initially with weekly drops for the remaining.

I find following multiple series at once exercises my brain.

Seriously, it can be confusing, especially with the new trend for series to be season or series-long arcs of story. Self contained episodes are becoming rare. Then you have series like Fargo, season 4, which literally had 10 important characters, and 10 more somewhat important minor characters. Not only that, it was multi-generational. It broke my brain.

I recommend Ghosts as a nice and easy series to watch. It is fun, only 1/2 hour, and mostly self contained per episode, although the mystery of Trevor's missing pants has been going on way too long. :D

On Amazon: last night I started watching River (Stellan Skarsgard, Nicola Walker).

Dark, intense, riveting. There was a moment in the first episode which actually made me gasp in shock. That doesn't happen often!

It has six episodes total.

I think I know the moment you mean. I had the same reaction.

I’ve been rewatching some shows before a new season.

So rewatched My Brilliant Friend and now Barry.

Also watched Starstruck on HBO Max, which is a terrific 6-episode rom com and second season is coming soon.

"Inventing Anna" on Netflix. Embarrassing. This series made me cringe at the ignorance and stupidity of the ultra-wealthy in New York. It is a true and documented story, a little drama added. I followed up with NYT, WSJ, and other interviews and articles from the characters and could not believe it.
