Ohhh Koolau I know that feeling. When life is done, we can have all the money in the world, but family is all we will have going forward.

Was about to ask how does one transition from the Accumulation Phase to the Spending Phase and I think you answered it before I even asked it. First Grandson born 2 weeks ago, Oldest is getting married next year. Thanks :D

BTD recently getting driveway textured and painted. Gets sort of pricey because I had to have the original painted driveway ground off first. It's a Florida thing I guess.

It looks great! The landscaping is beautiful too.

Very nice BTD!
Is there a special paint used for concrete application?

I understand. I got married and was spending about $40 K a year on travel because DW loved to travel. With marriage, I added 2 sons, 2 DILs, and 3 grandkids. I am also paying for nursing school for one GD.

Bought myself one of THESE. A bit older than I was looking for (2006) but very low hours and very well kept. Will make dealing with the 20yds of loam coming a breeze.

Looks good! I remember walking through the villages just mesmerized by the textured driveways. Not practical up north in MN, but I did take a play from the FL playbook and put in some colored solar lights that make it look like the tropics shining on our tree's.

Whoaaa, that's serious, that's in skyking territory!

They have a seat upgrade if you keep sliding off of that one.

Where do you store that after you've finished your project? Will you be doing gig w*rk eventually?

The product used on my driveway is distributed by Sherwin Williams, called
H & C Concrete Sealer. They tint the product to match/coordinate with house and trim colors. Final process is 2 coats of waterproof clear sealer that needs to be reapplied every 2 years to keep the base colors from fading.

Woo Hoo!

My Gubner just sent me a check for $750.00! I am pretty sure he hurt his arm patting himself on the back in the accompanying letter. It just so happens that my 15-year-old computer died a miserable death the other day so l see a shiney new computer in my very near future. :)

Thanks Gov

My Gubnor is parting with as much as 2¢ for me or anybody else in my state. He is looking forward to the new carbon tax in 2023 which will add an estimated 15¢ to the cost of a gallon of gasoline. And the new state [-]income[/-] excise tax on capital gains.

Is your carbon tax strictly on direct purchase of carbon (like fuel) or is it added at each step of production (for instance, a lawn chair - carbon to make electricity to get aluminum from bauxite, plus extrusion, plus fashioning, plus shipping, etc.)?

Good questions. I don't know.

Got my 500 gallon Fuel Oil tank filled. 451 gallons, thus it is the total fuel I used last winter.
I always have tank filled in August. $ 2042.-

BTW speaking of old Joe's 0 inflation.
Oil fill up
2021 392 gallons $1070
2020 442 gallons $720

This is small potatoes, but big for me in relative terms. In the Seattle airport, I saw a Rolling Stone special edition on Pink Floyd. I was wearing my "The Wall" shirt at the time. I cannot remember the last time I paid even $5 for a single newsstand magazine. I just never do that. This was $15 and I bought it.

A few months ago I did the same thing for a LIFE magazine special on Jimmy Buffett. Felt weird spending that much for a single mag.

Yeah, I'm done with magazines. I have one subscription still (CR) which I may keep up. YMMV

37 year old Brora (whisky).
A bottle full of indescribable magic. Created by neglect. Unrepeatable as the method of production disappeared in the 1980s

About $110...per oz

How's $1185 vet ER bill? Then I bought pet insurance. Now he needs another exam. Thing is: he was behaving like his arm hurt. Until the vet saw him & a bill ran up. She said to minimally walk him, keep him sedentary. Yeah like those zooming aren't going to happen. Ah well, I only wasted $1185 + 65 to start ins + a physical tomorrow am [emoji857]. At least it wasn't the 4k my sister spent bc her dog at a peach pit [emoji849]

Bills are more like forced spending than blow that dough.

I am impressed that your dog has arms though.

We got a check for a medical bill over payment, I told my wife we were rich!
Then I showed her the check for $0.01.

Yes, our last pup was the most expensive one, and the only one we ever bought pet insurance for. The prices I heard quoted to folks without insurance when I went in there were crazy!
His last few years were the priciest, as he developed lots of issues.
But he was the best dog ever.

"zoomies" :), you guy must be part pittie? Pittie zoomies are the funniest! Our guy kept us laughing at his.
