This is not my pet peeve of the day. It is more like my ongoing pet peeve of the year - of the decade even. It is the practice of using the word "super" as a modifier. Many fully grown-up and intelligent adults do it. It drives me up the wall. There is a wide variety of other words to choose from, so why dumb down our wonderful language? For instance, when talking about how easy something was, you could say that it was,
very easy,
surprisingly easy,
exceedingly easy,
particularly easy,
shockingly easy,
extremely easy,
extraordinarily easy,
or a number of other options. Why, when all these different words are available, to add various subtleties of meaning to your sentence, would you opt instead, to say that it was "super easy"? The English language is a wonderful communications tool, but not the way that many speak it.
