What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

Started "Quantum Leap" 2022 version. Deleted it after 2 episodes. Terrible acting and sad plots. Yawn.

Have to agree with this. They took all the fun out of the show as compared to the original series.

I hung on a bit longer than 2 episodes. DW likes it so I watch it. There was one episode where he jumped into a woman's body that was pretty good, reminded me of the original show. The Halloween episode was OK, but kind of dumb. Otherwise, pretty much a bore.

We're streaming the final season of Doc Martin (#10) on Acorn. It's managed to keep the quality of the show even after ten seasons, unlike so many other series. I'll hate to see it end.

There are also two Doc Martin movies. I believe they are now on Acorn thought that might have changed.

On is simple a prequel movie called Doc Martin. The other is below...

Started "L.O.R. Rings of Power" very slow to start, 2 episodes in we hope it gets better or it will be in line for deletion.

^ those two are the only shows DH and I have bailed on in recent years. Handmaids was great the first season, pretty good the 2nd. But we probably sunk-cost watching by the time season 5 started.

When I told DH there was a 6, we decided to bail.

Gonna finish Handmaids since there's only a season left. Then the same show runners have The Testaments lined up. Not sure I will continue there.

My understanding is that they've been well beyond the book for at least a couple of seasons. But the economics of TV shows are such that they need several season to make it worthwhile for both the producers and the networks or streamers.

So they add a lot of filler episodes or characters and subplots to just produce enough content.

Also gave up on The Walking Dead a few seasons ago when they didn't kill off Negan. Robert Kirkman said they planned to make those shows forever. So basically there seemed to be little point to the story, they're going to go around fighting other tribes indefinitely, the same plots recycled. There was no sense of progress, just pure survival against rival tribes which would do the main characters harm.

The first couple of seasons were only suppose to cover like a few months since the zombie apocalypse. Of course that was hard given that some of the characters were young children growing up fast.

But unless they found a way out of the repetitive cycle, the characters were only going to survive until they grew old and were unable to fight off enemies.

Started watching 1899. It has some of the actors who were in Dark and makes less sense than even that (where your daughter was your grandmother and sister).

Sill liking it though :D

I'm struggling with 1899. Does it get better after Ep 2?

BTW, normally I'm not an anti-dubbing bigot. I watch dubs. But I think this show should be watched with subtitles. Many languages are spoken, which is part of the story and adds to the unease.

I finished the walking dead series finale. I’ve been a zombie fan since I was 6 and just loved this show but it was really hit or miss the last few years.
I’m not sure about the supposed spin off shows. I’ll wait to see if they actually happen.

I’m going to try Fear the Walking Dead and see if that’s any good. Didn’t have time to watch it when I was working.

Finished season 5 of the Handmaids Tale last night. Thought this season was pretty good. Kept my interest.
Season 6 will be the last season for that show. It will be interesting to see how they wrap up the storyline. I obviously did not read the book.

Fear the Walking Dead is a good series and entering season 8. The first three seasons were a prequel to the Walking Dead. Then there was a cross-over.

Walking Dead, The World Beyond was terrible and we stopped watching after episode two. It was cancelled after the second season.

Yes, I have subtitles on. We just finished episode 4, still confused but hopeful. Like I said, I was totally confused in Dark up until the end when it all made sense.

I've been watching English, the western on Prime. It's good but very violent. It seems that everybody out West from sod-busters to hired guns knows how to kill people and does so.

English is pretty good, different from most Westerns.
Watched the first episode of Wednesday on Netflix. Pretty good if you grew up watching The Munsters.

We enjoyed the English. Sort of reminded me of Deadwood on HBO. Only because it showed the gritty reality of how our nation began. It sure wasn't cupcakes and birthday parties.

We just watched Black Bird on Apple TV+. Very dark, crime/ Prison drama based on a true story. Very good cast and great portrayal of characters. Was Ray Liotta’s last completed project before his death.
I would recommend it if you’re in the mood for that type of show.

Right after reading these comments about the difficulty some were having watching 1899, I saw this article in CNET that says you MUST watch it with the English Sub-titles for it to make sense.

I may give it a try now.

Watched "The English" a little too slow for us. Not really impressed but stuck it out till the end.

Moved on to La Brea S2.

I'm 6/8th of the way through this thing. I thought I was going crazy. Some of the lips synced fine - others were obviously dubbed. Didn't make any sense until I read this article. I've had subtitles on the entire show, so I may, or may not, have any idea of what's going on. Hopefully, it will make sense once it's over. Or, maybe it's like Lost. I'm convinced the writers of Lost were making it up one show at a time.

Finished "English" last night. Still not sure what it was all about.

Started "Brokenwood Mysteries Season 8" New Zealand comedic (sort of) crime procedural. A little farfetched but good for light entertainment.

We just finished 1883, the Yellowstone origin story, on Paramount+ last night. Good series... looking forward to 1923 in mid December.

Very frustrating that Yellowstone season 5 isn't available on either Paramount+ or on Peacock. I could by the season from Comcast Xfinity but I'm not going to pay $36 for it... I watch it later.

I'm going to wait until Yellowstone is no longer a "gotcha" series. The seasons are all over the place. Some charging per episode. When it all comes together in one streaming channel, that's when I'll start season 1 episode 1.

Seasons 1-4 are available on Peacock. If you are a Concast Xfinity customer then you get ad-supported Peacock for free.

One gets the impression they are experimenting to find out which will make the most $$s.

Binged through all the released episodes of "Fleishman is in Trouble" on HULU. It's about a 41 yo doctor who is plunged into the world of online dating after a divorce and finds his life very different than it was before he got married. Sometimes it reminds me of the good Woody Allen movies as the protagonist is an anxious, nerdy Jewish man besieged with existential problems. Cast is terrific. Jesse Eisenberg, Lizzy Caplan, Clare Danes (whom I've recently discovered in Party Down).
I also adore the new season of The White Lotus. It's set in Sicily.
