+2Looking good.
When we lost our previous dog we figured we would try (for the 1st time in 30 years) to go without a dog and do a bunch of travel. We lasted 3 months and 2 of those months were just waiting for the new pup to reach 10 weeks old so we could pick him up.We buried our last 2 dogs at 13 & 15. It was so lonely without at least one dog. Nextdoor had a chocolate labradoodle that could no longer be cared for by its owner and Coco Chanel is now sitting beside us on the couch. She improves my life immensely: companionship and exercise. Been a dog person all my life.
Congrats on the new pooch!
Yup. Once you've had dogs, you are forever committed. Me too, I like dogs and if you don't I don't want to know you.
Me 50+ years ago. Never Not had a dog since!
OP here. could you please tell us a story about you and this dog? Thanks.
DW and I recently moved to a farm in flyover land, for 6 years prior we had lived in the north woods near Canada. We have been without a dog for 6 years and wanted to get another, but didn't dare due to the number of wolves & bears at our home. Encounters were common and the biggest, toughest dog in the world is no match for a pack of wolves.
Well, we're unpacked here now and DW wife went online to a nearby shelter and fell in love with a yellow lab/hound dog cross that we just have to have. We pick him up Monday, wish us luck.
My brother has one. He lives in Canada where they've been popular for years.A breed I was previously familiar with has become more popular in my area recently: the Novia Scotia duck-trolling retriever (speaking of duck hunting). It looks somewhat like a field-bred golden, maybe a bit smaller. Some have white markings. Their behavior in the field is interesting -- they lure waterfowl into gunshot range by raising a ruckus on the shoreline. Then they retrieve any birds the hunter might have shot.

No, I don't talk to myself. But I do talk in my sleep sometimes, lately! Don't really know what's up with that....I have often wondered if people who live alone without pets talk to themselves. I talk to my dog all the time even though he is deaf.
