RIP Sinead O'connor

Though the obituaries largely talk about her troubled life I hope we don't forget what a powerful performer she was. Most folks talk about the SNL performance where she ripped up the Pope's picture, but I've always felt that her earlier appearance on 9/29/1990 was even more memorable. Her performance of "The Last Day of our Acquaintance" just knocked me out (and still does 30+ years later).

Yes, very sad and troubled soul. A lot of struggles with mental illness and substance abuse, from what I've read. She lost her son to suicide in 2022. As much as I hate to say it, this news doesn't surprise me. RIP Sinéad.

She sings the theme song in Season 7 of “Outlander.” While hers has not been my favorite rendition, it is distinctly Sinead and suitable for this season.
