What did you do today? - 2023/2024 version

DD called and ask if we could pick DGD up from softball practice because her boss wanted to have an Emergency zoom meeting. Of course we will. She just "happened" to mention that DGD was going to need a pair of new jeans. We picked her up then headed for Kohls. Came out of store with 3 new jeans,1 pair of Khakis, and a warm and fuzzie jacket that DGD said "Papa it is so cute"! what are Papas and Meemas for other than spoiling. She is a sweetheart tho so its ok!!

Got my usual mind-boggling reminder this morning as I saw many houses beginning to put up their Halloween outdoor decorations. It's a really big deal around here, and some spend many hundreds of dollars on their displays (a few much more).

Not terrible if the kids actually enjoy them, but I can't figure out why they start going up so early.

I have a small apple tree out front by the mailbox. It produces about 24 apples a year. The squirrels have been knocking the apples down taking one or two bites out of them and leaving the remains for me to see. So I picked the remainder and made chunky apple sauce with them. It’s rather good in my opinion and much less sweet than the commercial stuff. It’s a great topping for my lower-carb pancakes.

Thanks! Temporarily living with my daughter and her husband is coming to an end this week!
Aha, back to being king of the castle! Carry on.

Someone put a post on the local Facebook page that they had a timber rattler under their deck so I went and removed it for them.

Spent the evening yesterday in the ER, been having some back spasms for about a week. Yesterday my entire back seized up and I could. not. move. I was stuck in bed.
DH ended up calling 911 and I got an ambulance ride. A few hours later, some valium and other good things and I was home.
Still taking valium and having spasms but at least I can walk, sit, and did get some sleep.

To anyone with chronic back problems, wow. I feel for you. This is not fun.

cool good on you. Where did you relocate it to?

About 60 yards into the woods. Well within its range given where I found it.
She has a lot of thick hedges around the deck I suggested she trim way back as it looks like a great place for a snake to find a little meal.

Attended French class with a bunch of 19 somethings.

I wish you well and sorry feel for you. I have a 69-year-old neighbor that can't do anything because oof his back. He can't even support himself anymore. His 42-year-old son is there often, and he has a bad back also and can hardly do anything. I have been lucky to have a good back so far.

That is a great day for sure. They always put a smile on my face and make the day when I get to my GD's.

Bought my new house.....:)

Are you going to miss your former neighbor, the one whose RV genset you helped fix, then went with him back east to learn to build a boat or something like that?

I still hang out daily with those friends. It's a ROMEO thing and I am only 5 miles or so further way.

Welcome to the club. Sort of, it's not a club anyone wants to join. Thursday I go to get another injection in my back to block the nerves transmitting pain. In the meantime I'm on Oxycodone half the time. Fortunately I can still do most stuff, but I have to be careful about bending, for how long, and how far so that really put limits on me. Nobody told me that getting old was going to hurt so much.:(

But today I spray painted the cabinet I'm refinishing in a medium gray, and it came out perfectly. Except of course, for that ONE glop of paint emitted from the sprayer that means I'll have to sand and repaint the top tomorrow. Other than that I'm very happy with how this is turning out. The gray is an exterior Home Depot latex Behr paint ("flannel gray") and I'm using a Graco handheld airless paint sprayer that I've had for several years. I really like it, and although there is a learning curve I'm getting to the point where it only takes about 20 minutes to clean up.

I had bad lower back spasms that laid me up twice for a week each time. A couple of threads and posts by Alan, with a link to a specialist with a website helped me develop a daily stretching routine that has made a big difference, and I haven’t had a repeat since.
