What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

I enjoyed "Fool Me Once" as well. I didn't like "You are What You Eat" because I thought the title was misleading. I thought it was all about the twins eating study, but it was so much about (Wait, I should stop talking now as I don't want to end up writing spoilers...) I skipped through and watched the results of the study.

We started watching "You are what you eat" also. Then they started devoting more time to politicians and political points. Still interesting, but will skim the rest.

We have been enjoying the limited series on Netflix. We just finished Queens Gambit and are now half way through Bodies. Both are pretty good.

The limited series are nice because you can watch the whole thing in a week or so and be done with it. Most series start to fall apart in the last season or two, and we feel committed to finishing it.

We picked a random movie tonight and what a pick it was. The Sound of Freedom (Prime Video). Hollywood's treatment of a real life person, Tim Ballard who dedicated a portion of his life to rescuing trafficked children. The movie is based on his rescue of children in South America but, in Hollywood, tradition the movie is "highly fictionalized". Despite that this movie is worth 2h11m of your time. ***** stars.

I watched it last night. An emotionally wrenching film about an important subject matter that will make the viewer uncomfortable. Very well made with excellent use of powerful imagery and a minimal use of dialogue. The flaw was that the characters were not developed very well. Jim Caviezel's character is intensely motivated to round up these traffickers but we barely know why. In the film he credits his wife for lighting his fire but the scene in the movie was scarcely a minute long.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Could have been 5 out of 5 with some character development. If all of the main characters had their background explained like the character of Vampiro, a reformed former member of the Cali cocaine syndicate, (and Caviezel's contact in Columbia) the film would have greatly benefited. When he explains his backstory it's one of the most powerful scenes in the movie.

I'm still thinking about the movie the next day, a sure sign it made an impression.

Another random movie pick tonight. When we see something interesting either in a promo or in IMDB.COM we flag it for a possible future viewing. Tonight it was Warhorse One (Peacock) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16527824/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

The story of a lone Navy Seal in Afghanistan trying to get back to his unit after a helicopter crash. His mission was to locate and escort an American family fleeing the Taliban. I won't give it away but what I thought would be just an OK story turned out to be a very good story (despite the captions indicating the enemy was speaking Arabic). Worth your time.

Finished Shetland Season 8. Good As Always even with Agatha Raisin as a new DI.

I was skeptical of her (Agatha Raisin) taking on that role but I thought she did a great job. Shetland is one of my favorite shows and I thought season 8 was as good as seasons 1-7.

Started "The Buccaneers" right up DW's alley. 19th Century coming of age show. Lots of costumes with a mixture of USA and British gentry.

Started watching "Reacher" on Amazon Prime Video.

I have read all of the books and watched Reacher Season 1 (which I thought was excellent.) I've watched the first two episodes of S2 and so far I'm a bit disappointed. I'm having a hard time pointing a finger at the culprit but it seems kind of boring.

Reacher is supposed to be a stoic man of few words, but in this season he's coming off as an unemotional drone. In S1 he would at least have facial expressions and crack an occasional smile along with some witty rejoinders. Now he seems to be a brutish robot.

The acting seems alternatively lifeless and then hammy. I feel sorry for veteran actor Robert Patrick having to spit out his threats with false bravado. Maybe it's director Sam Hill's fault. I see that he's not doing any more episodes going forward. Hoping it gets better.

It's holding my interest but it's not blowing me away like S1 did.

Just to add, this isn't a series, but a documentary film called "The Game Changer" on Netflix does a much better job explaining the benefit of vegan eating IMO. I've done Keto and I'm still doing low-carb, but after reading Lifespan by David Sinclair (longevity researcher) and watching this film (it's not a new film but I've watched it recently), I've definitely changed my views a lot. This documentary shows the penis size/erection frequency study and just that part itself is worth a watch! This film focuses on pro athletes who are vegan. It was eye-opening for me.

Started watching Reacher season 2 on Prime. Not a fan of this season. Loved season 1.

Took folks advice here and started "Fool Me Once" We are enjoying it. "Purdy" plays a good part too. She looks petty good.

Watched Eps. 1 of Criminal Record (Apple+) last night. Thought it was very good. Police thriller with seems like a fairly complex set of characters so far.

Thanks- Ill check that one out!

I’ve been watching McDonald and Dodds on Brit Box.

A young, energetic and self obsessed detective teams up with a quiet, socially inept police sergeant who had been put out to pasture. But, he notices things and makes connections that most others miss. Very entertaining and fun to watch British mystery show. And some nice shots of Bath for those of us who’ve never been their.

We just finished S4 of For All Mankind (Apple TV+). A satisfying story in some ways and unsatisfying at the same time..a bit like real life. But we give it ***** ! Well worth your time. All epis have dropped so you can binge it. Fingers crossed for S5.

Saturday night was double-feature movie night for us.

#1 - 65(Netflix). A sci-fi offering. An astronaut crash lands on a mysterious planet only to discover he's not alone. 3.5 of 5-stars. A bit predictable but it kept our attention.

# 2 - Equalizer 3(Netflix). Denzel Washington in the 3rd installment of the series. This time he takes on the mob in a small Italian town. If you liked the original TV series and the first two movies you will like this one.

Started Hope Street season 3. It is really an Irish version of Eastenders, but we like it as it does have a Police Procedural bias.

It has a Britbox ad at the beginning of each episode, so I assume that is where it is streaming.
