Has anyone noticed this on Amazon. And why?

I was looking at a Seiko watch. It was $53. Next day, $51, a minute later, $49.

Next day, I thought I'd order the watch, Price $67.

Has anyone else noticed this rapid price change for Amazon products?

Just curious.

Just like airline tickets! Presumably the ability to use information systems to match price points that will match market demand.

Some of their price changes are way out there -- when I was looking for a specific camera, the change was as much as $100 overnight. Seems like they sometimes have glitches in pricing, so I usually check back over a few days and wait for the best price. This even happens when the item is sold by Amazon (as opposed to other retailers on their site). I can understand the pricing changes when the item is sold by other retailers, but it seems odd when the item is actually sold by Amazon. I rarely buy unless the item is sold directly by Amazon (due to free shipping).

Many times the quick price changes are due to them using multiple vendors to actually ship the product.

Dozens of different retailers sell through amazon.com. When they sell out of an item it then switches over to the next lowest priced retailer. This is common when buying electronics from them.
