When was the last time you visited a Movie Theater. About 10 years ago, DW and I would go to the theater maybe 10 times a year to see movies. Not as much as many years ago when we were younger, but still about 10 times a year. In the last 8 years, we have probably been to about 10 movies total. I think DVD rentals, HBO/Cable and a Big Screen TV with surround sound has really changed that type of entertainment for us. We now watch most Movies at Home.

How about you.

Last night, with some girlfriends, went to see "Paris, je t'aime". Pleasant but not earth shattering. Best part was the apres movie........

I am on vacation so we took my parents to see Pirates III on Wednesday and went with DW to see Oceans 13. Enjoyed both although they had their moments.

Haven't been to a theatre in ten years! We like a lot of indie and foreign films that aren't shown at theatres. We do see the occasional mainstream film, but it's cheaper and more comfortable to watch at home. Best of all, it's QUIET! No one talking to each other or on cell phones.

Action Crime Drama Genre: Hot Fuzz several weeks ago.

"The world is not enough" in 1999, on the third date with my wife to be.

Shortly after that we got a cheap DLP projector, an inexpensive surround sound setup, and netflix.

Foods better, you can drink booze and pause the movie for refills and to pee.

And yeah, nobody with big hair, hats, cell phones, yapping, no sticky seats and/or floors, etc.

It's been a few years now since we've gone. That's primarily because my lack of patience has grown at about the same pace that the percentage of rude, loud theater patrons seems to have grown.

Have not been in a movie theatre for somewhere in the order of 10 years mostly because of loud, ignorant patrons. And that was only because DW and I agreed to go with her sister and SO. Had not been in a theatre for maybe 10 years before that. Doubt I will ever go again.

We got lucky - an eight-plex opened in our sub-7000 soul town. Went to a matinee and watched with maybe 5 other people. That's about the crowd i can handle.

In the past year: The World's Fastest Indian, Casino Royale, the 300 (with my son) and a couple of others. I am working single-status in Calgary and enjoy a night out. Have begun going to live theatre again, too.

Yesterday, went to see "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer." Movies are one of our group of friends' favorite things to do together.

Saw Fracture a couple of weeks ago. Thumb-and-a-half up...

Stars Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling.

Only one cell phone rang during the movie... :bat:

Our teen dragged me to see Pirates of the Caribbean III last week as her treat for finishing 9th grade.

I wasn't paying much attention but at one point my brain woke up and said "Hey, that nasty guitar-strummin' pirate looks a lot like Keith Richards. I wonder how much makeup that took?!?"

The answer: none.

My daughter's comment was "Who were the Rolling Stones?" Ouch.

Otherwise I see a good large-caliber action flick about once a year.

Maybe 1 or 2 times per year. Can't remember the last one clearly. I think it was about a magician in Europe. We mostly stick to Netflix.

Going for a record here. The last time was ah .............1980. Would you believe I even had to look it up.

Blue Lagoon and Private Benjamin

I do not enjoy movies and thinking back I believe DW talked me into seeing the Fugitive over 10 years ago. I waited outside after leaving half way through.

I have been out-cheaped.

I cede to the master.

It's been at least 5 years I think. I just don't see the point anymore. We bought Dad a 42" Panasonic plasma HDTV a couple of weeks ago, and it's so enjoyable watching movies at home when you have a gorgeous display like that, I have no desire to go to a theater anymore.

Besides, they play the movies TOO LOUD.

Not to mention all the very annoying previews.

Gotta admit I'm a curmudgeon on this one. Loud crowds, riduculous prices both for tickets and goodies, annoying lines and people control with large multiplexes, volumes that are often set too loud for my aging ears. It's just not something I enjoy any more. Maybe 2-3 times a year for flicks where the special effects are worth the ordeal.

DW would probably list my resistance as a pet peeve.

Used to go 20-30 times/year (15-20 years ago). Now, maybe once/year, to a movie
I feel needs a big screen (LOTR, Star Trek, etc). Rental DVDs have filled the void.

We go a few times each year. We watch most of our movies via Netflix--lots of great stuff to choose from and it is more convenient. (and our 20 year old 21" TV is fine--sit closer if you want to see details!)

The times I most enjoy going to the theater is when I take some young relative to see a kids movie. Watching a movie with a theater full of laughing, giggling children is worth the price of admission--and even a cell phone ring or two.
