Do You Miss Being Young?

While I am perfectly happy now, I would have to say that college and the first few years out of college were great.. especially the first couple years out of college. I would think nothing of drinking and partying with friends all night and until the bars closed if we were out on the town, going home and getting about 5 hours of sleep and then getting up showering and going to work to do it all over again. There was a bar a few blocks from our apartment that was "our place"... we'd walk in the door and by the time we made it to the bar 40' later the bartender would have our favorite drafts on the bar waiting for us.

I may have overdone it though... at my first performance review the managing partner told me that they thought that I was a bright young man with a lot of potential but that I wasn't applying myself worth a lick... and that in 6 months that they would either promote me or show me the door... a rude wake-up call. (They promoted me 5 months later).

I was much more goal oriented back then.

All I have to say is that it is a good thing that I didn't run into that little hottie young W2R back in those days... I would have worn myself out chasing her around town. :D

I had a life changing injury at the age of 37 which has left me with constant chronic pain very likely for the rest of my life. I would absolutely love to go back to not having pain all day every day. I don't care about wrinkles or weight or energy but constant indefinite pain is horrible.

I hear you, Aaron. That's got to be a hard thing to deal with, and no amount of wealth can relieve it. Best wishes to you.

:ROFLMAO: I would have thought you were crazy for doing that, since at that time I thought I was extremely ugly. I remember when that photo was taken I was so embarrassed to be photographed because I thought I looked unusually awful that day.

...........Even though I think I was much prettier when I was young, I didn't *know* that at the time so I didn't get any enjoyment out of it. I'd look in the mirror and think I was ugly. So, that wasn't an advantage. .........
I hear the same from DW. I've seen pictures of her in her 20's and she was a knockout, though she is still attractive. I guess we are poor judges of our own attractiveness.

Nah, that is a movie star photo.
OTOH, PB still can't figure out where you live.

I do miss the days of no joint pain after exercise, but don't miss work at all.

I'll admit, yes. I miss being younger a lot. The last 10 years I've seen some changes. Most of my life I had great balance, vision, hearing and sense of smell. I'm 60 now with a greatly diminished senses. Sense of smell is really taken a dive. 20:20 vision is no more. Getting hard of hearing with Tinnitus or ring in the ear is constant. No longer have those "cat like" reflexes
& balance. So yes, I do miss certain things about being younger.

I definitely would not want to revisit my junior high and high school years. They were miserable. But if I had the chance to go back to being college age again, I’d do it. There’s so much that I wish I could have done differently.

My best years are between 35 and 45. But no one can ride a time machine, I guess.

However, today is the youngest me for the remaining years of my life. Just want to make sure that I will have no regret in 20 years.

I miss the virility that has gradually reduced. But I enjoy doing whatever I want and the memories.

I get intimidated by all the responsibilities that my two sons carry.

Speaking of movie star material - - Nemo, you definitely had that movie star look when you were young! :D You still look pretty good this month too, and those grandkids look a lot like you.

Yabbut...Boris Karloff took all the good roles.

(If the kids look like me it must be osmosis....I'm not a blood relative...I'm just 'Opa'. )

I'm much happier now at 60 than I was at 20, 30, 40 or 50. Being an impoverished stressed out student and then a less impoverished but even more stressed out worker bee took care of that.

That said, I really miss being able to bounce back from injuries. A pulled muscle that would take a few days to get over in my 20s and 30s can now sideline me for months.

40-55 was great except for having to, well, you know...the W-word. but i'm fairly content. most days i feel closer to 60, maybe even younger, than 70.

Get a nice suite of clothes, cut the hair, trim the beard.
You will be a silver fox.
Who's looking at the guy? Those cute grand kids are stealing the scene!

I would go to my younger years in a heart beat.
