Barking Dogs!
Our new neighbor has a dog that barks all freaking day. If we have our windows open at night it wakes me up in the morning. If I go out in the yard, the stupid thing barks every time I make a sound. We used to have deer in our yard frequently but they hardly come around anymore since the barking dog moved in. We even have to turn up the TV when watching a movie to drown out the barking dog.
I'm sure this won't be a popular post.
This is why you read about neighbors shooting or poisoning their neighbor's dogs. It's actually understandable at some point, but they are considered cruel, criminals, and mean in the news in today's world. What
I grew up in a family in a residential area with two dogs, one a house dog and the other kept outside.
So, no dog hater here. A few other neighbors also had dogs. None were allowed to bark as they knew each other. Heaven help a stray dog that came into the block. If that happened, low powered BB guns appeared from at least three neighbors and we never saw that dog again. All quiet, the neighbors brought bones over for Bootsie. She never gave them a mind when they came out in their yards. Neither did their dogs with us. The difference between a trained pet and a spoiled animal? Oh, and all of the families hung out clothes to dry and were super social. No dog problem was permitted by anyone. Air conditioning was rare, so windows opened at night were the norm. You couldn't even have an argument in the evening back then.
I have had lots of neighbors, some with dogs, but none were a problem except in the last couple of decades. Most folks kept dogs outside back in the day, but no issues. What is going on now?
If the neighbor doesn't care that much about their neighborhood, I wouldn't care much for their pet! But, we have become too sensitive now... Nobody's pet is worth your peace of mind.
Consider anti-barking sonic devices. I've read where the dog owners complained because their dogs would no longer go out to handle business.
