New to the group after lurking and learning for a while. Retired at the end of last month at 57 and so far, so good. I bought myself a nice retirement gift ( Leica Q2) and re-learning photography and was glad to find this thread. here are a few walk-about shots from the new hardware.

Thanks aja8888. the funny part is I spent 2 hours out in 9 degree weather taking pictures of trains at this spot and when the engine I was there for finally showed up, my fancy new camera battery was dead. this was with the iPhone.
I *think* this is Ronstar's waterfall from 4.5 yrs ago. Different season, different angle, pocket camera.
Went for a hike among the waterfalls in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois
That's it! LaSalle Canyon - same as my left pic above (and my avatar). I took today's pics with my iPhone - too cold to manipulate a dslr.
Lots of people when you were there. I had the place to myself today.
Nice. I grew up in Chicago but it took me moving away and 55 years to finally visit Starved Rock. Very nice trip. My only complaint was the crowd, and for some reason, people on the trails were playing a lot of loud music with portable speakers. New trend?
Still totally worth it.
On the way there, we actually visited Hocking Hills first! So, nice to see both of these hidden Midwest gems. Don't let the word get out too far, or they'll get even more crowded.
Went for a hike and ran into a plump cardinal.
When I first read this I was expecting a photo more like this one:
That looks like something out of Angry Birds.
Is it fat or the feathers are really fluffed up?
Playing around with the new iPhone. Handheld, natural light. Too cold for outside pics, so I’m practicing on my new wood chisels.
Which model?
If the Pro or the Pro Max with the 3 cameras, check out the wide angle and the tele.
Very soft around the edges. Even the center isn't quite as sharp as the regular camera.
