We were over at the BIL & sister's coast place in Waldport Oregon for New Years - for years I've been all snooty-face because they are up on a hill and can't see the beach. OTOH, they are also above the fog and don't have the salt air corroding anything metallic. and THEY have a coast house, which we don't.... Took a little drive out on a spit of land across the Waldport bay that is very built up with houses that DO have an ocean view and snapped these shots. Going to need to re-think the whole ocean view idea. The sand blows in and does this over a matter of a few days when the conditions are right - hear there is a guy with a Bobcat scoop loader that does right well at keeping his family fed by digging out the houses.

Something more to vacation home expense than just mortgage, utilities, and taxes. Can you imagine coming over to find this after being gone for a week or two?

My objection to ocean-front houses isn't the sand (but WOW!), but that sometimes the ocean comes to visit.

I'd prefer walking distance, but down a hill.
