What We're Making

I really enjoy seeing your craftsmanship. Do you ever make any boxes with hand cut dovetails? Years ago, I had a book, Tag Frid Teaches Woodworking that showed a lot of hand cut joinery that I would occasionally play around with. Alas, I gave up woodworking when we moved to Texas in 1993 and had to get rid of my woodworking machines.

Thanks - haven’t made anything with hand cut dovetails yet. I’ve practiced, but it’s very time consuming. I have an idea for some hand cut dovetail boxes for this winter when I have more time.

You could get back into woodworking without your machines - just go all hand tools.

And buy the DVD set of "The Woodwright's Shop."

Years ago I lived in a market where they played "The Woodwright's Shop" backed against Norm's "New Yankee Workshop."

It was like watching a documentary on bronze age warfare the first 1/2 hour, then watching a documentary on nuclear bombs the next.

I wish, but the only space for that purpose is a very small two car garage, and it has to hold two cars.

Refinished a couple of house number plaques and re-furbed an old bench in bulk trash with scrap white oak (stained).

Ordered up our Weber Q1200 - :)

Glad I went back and fitted the rough board (required some trimming), made install today easy.

We loved our Q series down in Mexico. Mostly aluminum for humidity levels was good. Gets hot for searing steak and we even used it like an oven for pita pizzas by putting foil on the 2 side exhaust openings. Ours had a cast iron grate that was fine if used regularly or oiled...

Cool, I did a lot of research for a good marine barbee and this one has many kudos. Weber has always done a good job ever since the original (and still going strong) Weber Kettle. Also got the griddles so can also cook normally. The stove in the boat has a vent hood but it's not working. The fan was removed and there is a 12 volt blower under a compartment up on the fly bridge that is supposed to do the vent part but doesn't seem to be working. Boat stuff, always a learning process.

So, plan to do most cooking on the deck - :)

Brought home an old cedar fence post that got retired after 100 plus years in the ground and made a couple vases and bowl. I will donate the items for a wine & food festival for a fund raiser for my favorite local charity.

All hand shaped with hand saw and wood rasps and files no electric tools involved. Then hand sanded and oiled. I broke off a small branch of cedar berries this morning while out hunting to add to the display.

Sweet setup! That will work nicely.

Thanks! The hard part was finding those locking SS struts. Unlike cam overs, they won't collapse if knocked, you have to pull out on the little grey knobs and they don't lock at the bottom, only the top.

Going to be sweet for fish cleaning too, entrails overboard and water rinse - :)

Very creative! Nice work!

Street, very nice work!

Ok, so this is an older project, but we've been using it a lot this summer...custom wine caddy for two.

Finance Dave, that looks great!
There is some cleaver wine bottle holder that I have seen. I see one the other day with large holes installed into a log an interesting bottle holder.

I've enjoyed incorporating LEDs and LED tapes into woodworking projects in the past. Recently played around with a newer LED product, neon LED. These Buffalo Bills logos have a Plexiglas foundation, acrylic paint, and epoxy resin finish. This 12v LED material is available in a variety of colors, it's bright, flexible, and even waterproof due to the silicone jacket.

Way cool wine/glass rack! Can you one hand it w/o worry of "clinking"?

Not pretty, but very effective vac system for my new Festool sander. 3 stage, separator / bag / hepa filter system that does not suck too much... Integrated into my outfeed / work table.

Got lots of shaker doors to finish now.

Recently had new cabinets installed and decided to make some inserts for some of the pull out drawers. Previous to that, we used those cheap plastic ones, which worked but werent as nice.
